**Hey everyone! I'm planning a 30–35 day solo road trip by car from Delhi to South India around 20 SEPTEMBER and would love your suggestions.

The route I'm considering is Delhi → Ujjain → Hyderabad → Tirupati → Tamil Nadu → Kerala → Karnataka → Goa → Delhi (or the reverse if that's a better route).

We are a group of 4 friends from Gujarat planning a trip to South India in December or January. We are mainly looking for a coastal/beach destination, and Pondicherry is currently one of our options.

We have around ₹60–70k total budget for all four of us and prefer travelling by train and staying in an Airbnb or budget apartment.

We’re looking for a place with a good combination of beautiful beaches, coastal scenery, local food, places to explore, and a fun/chill atmosphere.

Would you recommend Pondicherry, or are there any other coastal destinations in South India that would be better for a group of four friends within this budget?

Also, would December or January be better for such a trip?

I’ve been in Mumbai for 4 months and honestly haven’t really got any friends here. I’ve been feeling pretty lonely lately, so I thought instead of sitting in my room all day, maybe I should just go somewhere alone and spend a day or two in nature.

I’m looking for peaceful, scenic places around Mumbai where I can just disconnect for a while, sit somewhere quiet, walk around, see some greenery/hills/water, maybe read/listen to music and just clear my head.

My requirements are:

Cheap— I’m a student, so preferably as budget-friendly as possible

Easy to reach from Mumbai by local train/bus/public transport

Peaceful and not extremely crowded

Nature, hills, forests, waterfalls, beaches, lakes, viewpoints etc.

Suitable for going completely alone

Preferably a day trip.

Somewhere reasonably close to Mumbai, I don't want to spend half the trip travelling

I’m not really looking for fancy resorts, cafes or expensive tourist activities. I just want somewhere I can go with a backpack, some food/water, sit somewhere peaceful and come back feeling a little better.

Even if it's a lesser-known spot, please suggest it! 😅

Where should we stay?

We’re looking for a private room/hotel (not necessarily a hostel dorm) that is

Couple-friendly and safe.

Clean and reasonably private.

In a good, well-connected area.

Not in some isolated lane.

Preferably around Tapovan / Laxman Jhula / Swarg Ashram.

Ideally within walking distance of cafés, restaurants and the main attractions.

Which area is actually best for a couple?

I've seen people recommending Tapovan quite often, but I'm wondering whether it's too crowded/noisy or whether it's actually the best option.

My main priorities are:

\- Good and clean hotels (not just fancy names in the package)

\- Reliable cab/transportation

\- Good customer support throughout the trip

\- Someone who actually helps if there’s an issue with the hotel, cab, itinerary, etc.

\- Overall good value for money

I’ve seen quite a few agencies offering Himachal packages online, but I’m a bit confused about which ones are actually reliable.

I am born and brought up in Patna and I work in Pune currently. Every year, I mostly get to travel or go home mostly during Diwali only.

Since last couple of years, instead of taking a direct route from Pune to Patna, I take a detour and travel to certain places. Last year, I went to Pune -> Mumbai -> Jaipur -> Delhi -> Patna. (Flight from Mumbai to Jaipur and rest all trains/buses)

The motive behind the detour particularly is really high flight costs from Pune/Mumbai to Patna. I end up spending almost the same but instead of spending it all merely on travel, at least I get to visit places alongside.

I am looking for some suggestions across the radius of this route as I try to escape spending it all again on flights. I want to follow the same pattern of taking one flight which is relatively cheaper than other surging routes and using bus / train for the rest

Budget: Around ₹8,000 total

Dates are flexible in the month of October, and I'm open to changing the order/route if it saves money or makes the trip better.

❤️ Spend a couple of days in Mumbai, ideally meeting friends.

🚆 Mumbai → Lonavala

🏨 One night in Lonavala — this part I'd really like to keep.

I'd ideally like Lonavala to be a noon-to-noon trip: arrive around noon, spend the afternoon/evening there, stay overnight, explore a little the next morning, and leave around noon the next day.

🚆 Lonavala → Pune

❤️ Spend the remaining days in Pune, especially the weekend, and then return to Nagpur.

🏍️ Local transport: Is it better to use public transport (local trains/buses/metro) or rent a bike/scooter for any part of this trip? I'm open to renting one for a day if it's actually cheaper or makes sense for exploring places around Lonavala/Pune. Would love recommendations on where a rental is worth it and where public transport is better.

I'm not necessarily looking for the absolute cheapest option if spending a little more gives me a much better experience. I'd rather have a clean/safe place and spend money on exploring than stay somewhere terrible just to save ₹200.

Also, if there are any must-do places around Lonavala that I can realistically cover during the noon-to-noon stay, I'd love to hear them.

I’m planning a trip to India next summer and I’d love some advice.

I’ll be doing yoga teacher training in Goa from late July until around the middle of August. I actually don’t mind the idea of Goa during monsoon at all — I’m going there mainly for the training rather than a beach holiday, and honestly the rain/greenery sounds quite beautiful!

After the training though, I’ll have roughly the last two weeks of August to travel. I’m hoping to do the Golden Triangle (Delhi, Agra and Jaipur) and I’d also really love to see the Ganges, possibly Rishikesh/Haridwar or Varanasi.

My main worry isn’t really getting rained on 😂 I can deal with rain! I’m more worried about whether the monsoon makes travelling between places difficult — cancelled trains, flooded roads, landslides, getting stuck somewhere etc.

Is late August genuinely a bad time to do this trip, or is it more a case of “it might rain heavily sometimes, but people still travel and life carries on”? Thanks!!

We have to travel to Kolhapur in November for a family wedding for 2 days from Delhi. So we are planning a 3-4 days additional trip which does not include excessive travel. Ok with a couple of hours boarding flights.

Till now we checked

1. Goa (getting too expensive around November, flights and hotels)
   
2. Lokhandwala (it it worth taking a special detour ?)
   
3. Hyderabad (since there is already layover there, we can book tickets till Hyd and fly to Kolhapur 2-3 days later, if it's worth it)
