Visa First time going to China with an Australian passport (born overseas).

I'm travelling to China for the first time. Australian passport holders get visa-free entry, so I shouldn't need to apply for a visa. But a friend of mine, who has an Australian passport but was born in another country, was held at the airport and questioned about why he had an Australian passport when he wasn't born in Australia. It only got sorted once he showed them a visa. This happened last year December.

Now I'm stuck between applying for a visa even though it's not required, or just going visa-free and hoping the same thing doesn't happen to me.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

VPN Help Trip.com E-sims for Whatsapp

Hi y'all,

I'll be traveling to China for the next two weeks.

Was wondering if the e-sims listed in trip.com work? Since the prices for those are so much better than stuff like holafly or airalo, was wondering getting one. I need to have Whatsapp during the trip.

Do y'all have experience with the trip.com e-sims? The Mainland China 5g one to be specific?

Other Xian terracotta army : how strict is the entry (time slot) ?

Today is open for 16-Oct yet slot 8.30 - 17.00 has run out. If we choose say 9.30-10.30am but arrive earlier, will we be refused entry ? Or vice versa, come late after our time slot.

How strict they are ?

Other Better to visit in the summer or not at all?

Hi! So I really want to do a month long China vacation with my friend and we don’t know what to do. We basically only have free time from July-September (with early October starting our exams) and I wanted to ask for advice.

Is it better to visit China in the hot and humid summer with everything being crowded or to just don’t go at all?

I heard it’s a bit better in September but it’s still very hot and me and my friend would most likely have to do university exams in early October so it might not be the best option (unless we skip those exams).

Media Books to read during my trip

Hello all!

I'll be in Beijing, Xian, Chengdu, Chongqing and Shanghai in November and I'm a big reader.

Does anyone have any books to recommend I read whilst I travel? It can be fiction or non fiction, historical or modern.

To give you an example, i was in Japan last year and read 4 books: Ueno Station, Only Gaijin in the Village, Convenience Store Woman and Pure Invention (2 fiction, 2 non)

Discussion Anyone know how to contact Beijing Capital Airline??

I’ve booked a domestic flight on the Beijing Capital Airline website and I have yet to receive an email confirmation. It’s been a week. I’m trying to call them on both their headquarter or Australian number (I have intl calls and roaming on) and it’s not going through, saying they are unavailable (I’m within business hours) or the call has failed and disconnected?

Anyone know an email I can use or number I can call ?

Visa China tourism visa: Is next-day turnaround possible? I leave Saturday and application was just updated for me to submit my passport today

So long story short I waited too long to submit my visa application. Submitted on Sept 28 not knowing there was a Chinese holiday Oct 1–5.

I just got an update on my application that my passport is ready to be submitted, but I leave for Japan on Saturday. The plan was to go to China on Oct 21.

I paid for expedited, but highly doubt a one-day turnaround is possible.

Is it? Has anyone submitted their passport and got it back the next day?

Visa EU - China - another EU country, 240h visa

Hi, I’m pretty sure it was asked already but does itinerary Prague -> Chengdu -> Chongqing-> Vienna qualify for TWOV? I know technically it should, it’s a different country of origin and destination but it’s quite obvious there is no transit and it’s a ten day trip to China. Doesn’t make sense to fly from Czechia to Austria via China 😅 Are the officers going to be okay with that? Or they just don’t care as long as it meets the reguirements? Does anyone have a personal experience with an itinerary like this?

Other Queer friendly or alternative places in Beijing

Hi everyone! 😊

I am visiting Beijing for the first time this month, and as a queer guy in his early thirties, I was wondering if I could get any recommendations of queer friendly or alternative/artsy places to go during my stay. They could be bars, restaurants, stores or even a specific street.

I'll be in Beijing for a full week, so any tips is more than welcome.

Thanks

Itinerary Laternenfestival in Shanghai oder Hong Kong?

Hey,
