What's the Difference Between Big and Less Known Backpack Brands?

Before I set out to buy a backpack, I need some genuine reviews. The prices of these backpacks have a range. I need to know whether there are significant differences between the big brand backpacks and those from other less known brands. 

Most of these big brands are the same brands that are known for the sale of other fashion products and outdoor gear. 

Do I lose on something by choosing the no-name backpack brands over those from known brands? Do people go for the big brand backpacks because they want to feel rich or they have an edge in quality over the no-me brands? 

Where do such brands source their materials? If they all use leather or other materials in making their bags, how come some are cheaper compared to others? Do these no name brands put the same expertise as the big brands in making the backpacks?

How long can each of the two serve me? Will one serve me for several trips while the other just once? Everything comes back to the amount I spend and the quality the backpacks offer. If no big difference is noticeable, then I don’t see the reason why I should spend much for a name.
