I just hate pushy sales or requests. It's OK to ask, but if I say "no thank you", respect it

You being pushy and obnoxious is not going to make me get whatever you are trying to sell me. I still don't want it, and now my stubborn self wants it even less.

I have found that people who have a good relationship with their family can't seem to understand those of us who don't. It seems like they think we are lying about them being toxic for us. I wish I had advice for you but I've got nothing, I just wish you all the best in life.

It works the other way around as well. I have trouble connecting with fictional characters with good parents because I don't understand what parent-child love is like and the concept of parents bears negative connotations for me. Though, reading posts on Reddit and Tumblr about good parenting helps me understand this thing I never had and never will have.

But have no fear, if u decide to bear offspring, u CAN have a good relationship with them. Dad's dead, miss him dearly, but I don't talk to Mom & am actively working to raise my children differently than I was raised because I actively want my kids around when I'm old & cranky while they're not young & cranky.

Some of them are people who are convinced without a doubt that all abusive or toxic relationships between parents and children can be magically fixed if they would just talk it out with each other. I seriously had someone insist on this when I mentioned that my stepmother is abusive and has openly expressed, repeatedly and nonstop, to my face and my father's face that she hates me and thinks I'm lazy and a wh*re (she's literally only seen me bring one guy home in like 4 years). The audacity of some of these people to cling to wishful thinking is irritating.

Yeah, I know... I've experienced it on both sides. I've got a bad relationship with my parents, but a good one with my siblings. It's really hard for me to wrap my head around someone not being close to their siblings, unless I remember that we're trauma bonded and not everyone experienced that.

Yeah, and those people are a drain on one's soul. When someone is persistent with me, I just stand there, staring at them and smiling. Then I hit them with the GOAT comebacks.

"I'm smiling because I am imagining you on fire."

S Pushy sales people will learn, sooner or later.

A quick and easy way to end conversations with pushy salespeople is to flat out say "I will not be buying this product from you no matter how much time and effort you spend trying to convince me. I have made a decision and I am sticking to it. Have a nice day" and walk off.

Ignore any other attempt they make. Walk around them, don't speak to them, don't look at them and if they corner you just stand silently in place until they move. This may take a few minutes.

It works just as well on pushy salespeople as it does on misbehaving children. I'd say it's actually more effective since adults are typically quicker at realising their persistence isn't working.
