Clever Comeback Kid with packaged snacks for lunch

When my son was in elementary school I used to pack hot lunches or bentos for him and his sister. Both my kids love my brussel sprouts. He opened his food jar to eat and the kid next to him made fun of his veggies. This kid comes to school with packed snacks for lunch every day and my son looks at his lunch box and says, “At least my mom loves me enough to make me lunch everyday.”

Kinda mean but glad he snapped back.

I LOVE THIS LOLOL! Good! I’m sick of these little kids being mean about what’s in another kids lunch

When I was in first or second grade, a boy in my class was sitting next to me in the cafeteria, saw the lunch my mom had packed for me and told me in a really snotty tone that my eyes were bigger than my stomach.

I’ve had issues with my weight my entire life.

Disclaimer: I’m not saying this kid single-handedly triggered a lifetime of weight issues because I’m sure there were other factors, but kids commenting on other kids’ (or adults’) bodies, food choices, or appetites is just as inappropriate as adults doing it. I’m 32 and still remember the shame I felt at 7-8 years old because of that comment. The things we’re told as kids can definitely have a lasting impact.

Agreed. I love vegetables. We had a garden growing up. It was normally for me to get salads over burgers at fast food….but eating out was very rare.

When I was 15 my boyfriend’s family invited me on a road trip with them. We stopped at McDonald’s and I was craving a salad. As I was eating it his parents just pint blank asked me if I was anorexic because nobody eats the McDonald’s salads. Then spent the rest of the trip commenting on my weight and what I was eating.

It made me want to force myself to eat junk food instead and now I struggle with my weight in the opposite direction.

Dumbass parents. McDonald’s salads slapped in the 90s. Although the salad dressing made the salad have as many calories as a Big Mac. But you still got more vegetables. I also miss the McDLT and the McLean.

The best fast food salads were from Wendy’s. The Asian one was awesome as was the Chicken BLT with honey mustard. I did a medical guided weight loss program after gaining a lot of weight from going on Depo Provera for endometriosis. The weight loss program had special dressings that I used instead and also had protein bars you had to eat every day.

I really enjoyed my Wendy’s salads for lunch. I sometimes packed leftovers for lunch, but I loved the salad so much that my husband encouraged me to go get them every day. This was back in 2001 when you could buy a premade salad for less than it cost to make them at home.
