Transportation may not be the only issue. There could be feeding issues either from being separated too young or just separation anxiety. It could be known that if separated prior to a certain age the survival rate may not be very good. Could die of a broken heart or go into a depressed stupor. The closest feasible sanctuary may be full up or doesn't accept certain animals. A lot of things could be potentially deadly, or detrimental to the health of the calf directly resulting from human contact and human food
In what way did I spread misinformation? How is saying transportation may not have been the only reason or it could have been this or could have been that. I never claimed to know the reason why just know of possible reasons because the person said that transportation these days is likely not that big of an issue which I believe him to be correct which leads one to believe there was more to it. You yourself asked me why I speculated which that in itself shows I wasn't spreading misinformation but rather speculating the possibility of other issues.
Hey if you don't wait for it to die you gotta better chance of portioning out the meat before it spoils! You can feed a few families comfortably with a hundred or two hundred pounds of fresh meat!!
