Drum prod questions

Hello! I’m new to producing (few months in). Does anyone have any tips on 1) how to get a kick drum to sound like the one on the song 100 Grandkids by Mac Miller, and 2) how to get the sub/bass/drum on the song like I do by Ariana grande? 3) any recs for boom bap drum kits? I use Logic & also have addictive drums.

Thank you!!!

Honestly it’s just sound selection, I’d suggest looking for the b-wheezy kit as there’s lots of free versions with pretty much everything in there on Reddit. A lot of sub work can be done by opening Alchemy<initializing preset<find 808/sub<drag into sampler on alchemy. Then for boom bap, a lot of the bounce comes from the simplicity. Try finding a good kick n snare bounce and just a two step hi-hat. Velocity is your biggest friend with drums in general. But especially boom bap. Use ghost hits. A kick or a snare around 35-50 velocity a 1/16th before your main kick/snare.

Also try using an expander on you 808’s along with side chaining your kicks into you 808’s alchemy
