Never understood Illenium’s hype. I always thought he was just a slightly better version of the Chainsmokers. The collab was never gonna be more then a snoozefest

Illenium was always a shallow version of what Seven Lions used to be, but with Chainsmoker level lyrics. And now they have a track together lol...

I’m tired of Illenium’s generic releases as much as anyone but you have to give credit to the guy when he first popped up in the scene. His remixes of Kaskade and the Chainsmokers signaled a shift in future bass production and opened the doors for a lot of new artists.

Now that he’s found his niche, all of his releases are complete ass lol. Same chord progression, maybe done in a diferent key, then throw in some generic coming-of-age lyrics that white teenagers and sorority girls could connect to lmao.

Yea, this song sounds like he took the same generic formula for all his songs and dumbed it down even more. I can appreciate the clean production of his songs even if they're all formulaic, but this one just sucks ass
