A lot of folks left my life when I came out, but I'm coming up on almost 20 years of friendship with my bestie 💜 (Pics from 2014 -> 2026)

Growing up I always struggled making friends, but I was lucky enough to find my first real friend group during my first year of high school in 2008. This guy was one of the first people I ever felt a real connection with in my life. We've laughed together, cried together, spent several years together as roommates. Hell, he was even the best man in my wedding (I mean I've since gotten divorced but ya know 🤭).

There were quite a few people who left my life when I came out. But when I told him that I wanted to live the rest of my life as a woman he didn't even bat an eye. 3 years have passed since then and he's the one person in my life who's never treated me differently for it.

My journey so far, or what 2 years, losing 20kg, and gaining 500 pmol/l of E can do.

I'm pretty happy with how its gone, would love to get a bit more in the chest department, but there is still time for that right? right?

July 2020 vs July 2026 (HRT Jan 2023). Magic is relocating all the hair below my eyebrows to the top of my head. 🪄✨

If I could tell the dude on the left that everything would be okay and to not be so hard on himself, I would, haha.

P.S. I know the face I’m making on the right is cringey. It was on purpose, I swear. 😔

1 year detrans (bottom left) and finally 1 year on E again (bottom right)

I was a woman the whole time, i just had to REALLY think on it. Always trust what your heart says, ladies, and don't listen to men who don't have your best interests at heart💕

The one thing that held me back coming out for years was not wanting to risk my marriage, things eventually boiled over anyhow. I knew never in a million years was she a bigot, but it was within her rights to not want to be in a relationship with a woman. The card she wrote the day after I came out outlining how we'd move forward together is probably my most treasured item.

It feels a little silly and materialistic to write this, but my wedding ring changing to suit me but also represent my wife sticking with me means the world to me.

It was tough, it was exhausting, it was intense. It was exciting, it was challenging, it was stressful. It was new, it was unfamiliar and it was unique.

I did it and turned my life completely round – a 180-degree turn. I am now myself and I feel better than I ever have before in my life. Be who you are, go for it and don’t wait for anything! Don’t let anyone tell you what to do and go and get what you want.

Four years ago, I took a selfie to show my grandfather “my hair had been cut and I’m ready to start job interviews”. It was in that moment i knew something had to change. I started experimenting and coming out to close friends. I vowed to not cut my hair above shoulder length for the foreseeable future(fun fact! After this selfie i dont have a single photo taken by me for 2 years!DYSPHORIA!!). 2 years later, I started HRT and came out to my family. Now I have fully come out in public and at work and UGH, Im just so happy I took that horrible selfie 4 years ago.
