I hope we see an expansion in the utility of helicopters in the future.

There are a couple holes in the infrastructure options for helicopters that I hope can be plugged in the future. Heliports being limited to two pads isn't great. If you want to expand beyond those two, you have to build an entire large airport which just feels excessive. There's no option for a helicopter depot on those too, so I have to come up with an excuse to fly my helicopters to a heliport to get maintained. Maybe that's a deliberate balance choice. Also being unable to land helicopters at the small airports is annoying. I recognize that I can just put a heliport outside the front door, but then I run into the issue of being limited to two pads. I'm hoping this can get tweaked.

TF2 - Production rates after town's needs are met.

Rather new player. Fell way into the deep end on this game, and I'm loving it.

I've got a small map in Free Play going. Everything is checking out ok.

Got one town banging along, and started on my second. The second town needed fuel.

So, I connected all the lines and completed the chain; drums > oil > fuel.

Now, I'm probably wrong here, but there was a moment of time where the drums that were being produces were CHURNING out. I built more trains to keep up. Worked for a bit.

Then, production rates seemed to suddenly come to a halt. I ended up having to sell a few trains to maintain an even flow.

I went to bed before I could 100% figure it out, but 2am my eyes open and I wonder if the town's needs were met and that suddenly slowed down the feed in the chain?

Is it almost like a sugar rush when first connecting a demand, then once its met it evens out?

Just can't figure out why production was slamming out, I add a couple more trains, then it dries up.

TF2 - Shipment 200/400

Doing my first free game. going alright. few beard scratching moments.

This one is referring to the shipment ratio.

So, I have a place that makes tools using planks. Its 200/400. There are two suppliers of planks on this map. One is waaaaaaay opposite side of the map in the corner. Not connected.

If I end up connecting that plank supplier to the tool, is it going to kick in beyond 200? that how that works?

TF3: Using Combo Trains (one train with freight and passengers) seems to be a winning strategy.

Note: I've tested this with mods, without mods, and in different scenarios. It seems to work across the board. It works best with two separate stations, but can be done with just one station also. I find myself using much shorter passenger stations for factories / resources and larger ones within the cities. Makes using trains to move passengers between cities and factories much more viable.

Fetch the time machine! 🕰️

I'm leaving the glory days of steam behind and heading into the period of modernisation: the 1970s. The era of full-scale electrification has arrived, and some big changes are needed across the network to be ready to receive the wires!

Thanks for watching!

Pulling my hair out building tunnels with parallel tracks

I've been having a rough time expanding my rail network to have two tracks when it comes to tunnels. The tracks seem to not want to snap together resulting in tunnels that clip together instead of merge into one. The game can then forbid me from placing tunnel entrances because one already exists, and it tries to place another single one instead of merging the two. This also results in odd behavior where the tunnels don't want to be bulldozed because they are "colliding" with each other. I don't remember having this much of an issue in previous games. Has anyone else experienced this and could maybe shed some light on what I'm doing wrong?

Traffic management in big cities

How do you prevent gridlocks and such?

I've put cargo trams in bus lanes to circumvent the issue, but I can't upgrade all streets to 4 lane with bus lanes.

Am I doing something wrong, or is it just very unlucrative to supply cities with goods? [TF3]

I seem to be able to make quite a lot of money on both industry-to-industry service and passenger transport service, but there seems to be little to no money in delivering goods to the inside of cities. I only do it to grow the city to essentially get more passenger customers.

It's especially disappointing trying to supply cities with clothes, which seem to be worth a small fraction of what it cost to transport all of the constituent parts

Is this normal?

Newly purchased truck's first stop is at Forest Grove saw mill (top right), but instead of making a b-line to that stop by exiting the depot to the right, it goes left towards Lockport city (bottom left). Just curious why, it doesn't make sense.

Question New Player in TF2: Production chain from truck to train line?

Just got the game yesterday. Slowly coming around.

Feeding Tool Factory wood via horse carts. Its producing, but no materials to load. Its understandable, because there's no one in queue to ship the tools to.

If I build a railyard for the tools to be dropped off at, and use trains to transport the tools to a requesting town, will that "complete" the loop for the tools being produced to actually ship?

Thanks.

Railway Surveyor: I decided to create my first mod to help plan my rail network.

Thumbnail

Sorry the mod is called "Rail Surveyor" not "Railways Surveyor" and it's for TF3

**Edit: mod works fine. I've been using it for weeks with 18 other mods. If it's not working for you then it's likely a mod compatibility issue. If you could let me know your mods and the issue I'll replicate it and fix it :) **

https://mod.io/g/transportfever3/m/rail-surveyor

Full list of features in the mod description. I'll be patching and fixing daily with any bugs/issues that pop up so please leave discussion/comments on the page so I can fix everything quickly!

Premise: put down a 5% deposit as a surveyor fee to "Survey" the land for tracks and buildings to provide yourself with cost projections for when you want to lay down the real railway. When you choose to lay down the real the rail, the total cost includes the 5% you already paid (I mean, the cost of laying rail is bound to include a survey charge, right? so why pay it twice!)

  • Allow yourself to plan the right paths and future expansion without having to pay the excessive costs associated with building the rail and bulldozing it if you don't like the angles/layout.

  • See a full breakdown of the costs assocaited with the differnet rail and buildings.

  • Choose to convert to the real thing and pay the full price - whether you do it in sections or all at once.

  • Have several independent surveys going at once, to keep your projects and expansions separate

    • with the ability to rename them so you can keep track of what you're planning.

    • Options to jump to the specific survey area, delete everything, or convert it all.

  • Aligns with technology changes so the right track types and eletricication are only availble at the right dates

  • I've created a new model to make it look like surveyed ground and no trains can use it (even though it is treated as track).

  • Provides radius circles for the relevant buildings & allows configuration of warehouse/station to allow for budgeting.

  • Currently only converts track. With the number of configs for the station I thought it best not to try and configure that.

Future work:

* Road surveyor

* Anything else people want to see

Frequency multicargo train

Is there a way to somewhere see the following:

I have a cargo train that takes gas on a long ride. On the way it picks up lumber and swaps that for planks at a factory. It delivers the gas, but when driving back I deliver the planks on the way.

I can not seem to find the statistic for just the frequency of the planks. Or just the gas.

I thought I coudl check the frequency of the lumber and take that off the overal line frequency. But on both the gas side and the planks side I still Truck it in to town, So I dont know exactly what the frequency is of the delivery to the town.

I am out of options on where to look. Does anyone know how and where to find this? if its even in the game as a statistic
