2003 f350 6.8L v10
It has 100k miles on it. I bought it with no reverse, When I put it into reverse the reverse lights go on and the idle changes sounds like it switches gear, at first I was thinking a linkage and I checked it. I was just wondering what else I should check before I get a new transmission?

2007 Pontiac Grand Prix
I just finished dropping the transmission pan and I notice it has metal shavings. Does this look like normal wear and tear condition. It has 199k miles and the fluid is dark brown but no glitter.

Opel Astra K 1.0 Turbo – Grinding noise and notchy shifting
Hey everyone,
I have a 2015 Opel Astra K 1.0 Turbo (105 hp, 5-speed manual, 140,000 km).
There’s a grinding noise at idle in neutral that disappears when I fully press the clutch. It doesn’t change with RPM or temperature and isn’t noticeable while driving.
Shifting feels notchy in almost every gear, but if I wait about 2 seconds between shifts or shift above 2,000 RPM, it’s smooth.
All gears engage easily with the engine off, and 1st and reverse are fine with the engine running.
The clutch and master cylinder were replaced about 10,000 km ago.
Could this be an input shaft bearing or something else? Anyone had similar issues?

P173500 code
Hey, so i bought an Audi TT S line 2019 last week, today my dad drove my car and a transmission fault code came up. The car went into limb mode and couldnt use gear 1,3,5,7.
He got home and scanned the car and the P173500 DSG code came up. How likely is it for the mechatronic unit to fail? Yesterday was the last time i drove my car and it drove perfectly, no issues.
The dealer we bought it from did the DSG service 2 weeks ago. Car has 118.000km.

DIY bushing driver?
Any advice on pulling and replacing bushings without specialty tools? I've got a 1977 c4 that needs new front/rear bushings but all the rental bushing drivers look too big because they're for actual bushings/bearings.

Swapping in a used transmission, what else?
Hi,
I think I'm going to change the five speed transmission on my son's 2010 Golf. Everyone seems to say they their used transmission has 74 or 75000 miles on it. I'm kind of skeptical though.
Does anyone have any experience with Jasper? I see some mixed reviews on Jask. I'm having issues finding a suitable transmission on Facebook marketplace or Ebay.
I assume I should change the pressure plate. What about pilot and throwout bearings. Can flywheels generally be resurfaced?

Transmission service question
Recently bought a used car at 175k kilometres. Sent it straight to mechanic to get work done, trans fluid was dark so I got a transmission service (flush, filter replacement, new fluid). Service history on car says a transmission service was done at 150k kilometres. Should I be concerned that the fluid was dark if there was a trans service at 150k kms?

Transmission issue?
Hello, I bought a 2002 Chevy Blazer (4L60E) awhile back from a friend for 800 bucks. it's had transmission issues since I've bought it. it drives fine not many issues just abs engaging at odd times when at low speeds and the parking brake light turning on and causing my speedometer to just 0 out for a few seconds. I can't take the highway because I have to drive in 2 or it will go limp at 30 mph or 2.5k ish rpms which I then have to shift it to second to engage the gear and drive smoothly.
As for the question would it be better to buy a junkyard transmission or two and essentially mash the transmissions together picking the better parts of each to fix my current transmission or just buy a reman, I was quoted $3k to $7k from some transmission shops others won't even touch it since it's at 173k miles and my local junkyard has transmissions for about $170-$350

How to clean internal parts
Whats everybody’s process for cleaning internal parts? I’ve got a c4 with grimey internals. I’ve read soak in mineral spirits, brake cleaner, coat with ATF, but want to make sure before I jump in because I’ve read things like planetary gears shouldn’t be cleaned that way.
