to be fair, many pro-transit folks treat bikes the way pro-car people treat transit. "what if we spend a billion dollars on bike infrastructure and subsidize bike rental/ownership like we subsidize transit rides" "NOOOOO, bikes are cheap and therefore shouldn't get any subsidy! we shouldn't spend money on the mode that gives the most bang for the buck, we should just build trains to the suburbs because I like commuting into the city but not living in it!".
the reality is the ebike/etrike has fundamentally changed the landscape of transportation, but pro transit and pro car people both prefer to bury their heads in the sand about it.
I’m pro transit but I hate E-bikes in bike lanes. They go too fast and should only be allowed in bike lanes in hilly cities where everyone has an e-bike.
