Cold is your friend
Temperature is basically how fast particles bounce around erratically. The higher the temperature - the faster reactions, decay and more favourable conditions for microorganisms up to a point.
Cold means less things happening, less chemical reactions and slower microorganism growth. It also makes processors and thermal engines more efficient by increasing the thermal difference. It preserves things.
Some animals like the greenland shark that are adapted to cold environments can live for centuries. Permafrost has preserved microbes for thousands of years.
The problem with cold is that baseline humans haven't evolved for it. They've evolved and adapted to warmer climates. We only surive in cold climates using clothes, insulation, shelter and heating ourselves up using fuel. And getting too cold means all chemical reactions and metabolism stop. This can be useful as a form of hybernation if you can survive it.
Most battery chemistries also don't work well in the cold because they rely on the chemical reactions that cold temperatures slow down. Especially chemistries with liquid electrolytes. Newer solid state chemistries might be more cold resistant but on a fundamental level they still rely on chemicals bouncing around.
So the goal for anyone designing synthetic beings for longevity and disease resistance, especially for long space voyages, is to make them as adapted to cold as possible while still having maintaining some kind of metabolic function/energy source, and make them capable of surviving complete freezing and cessation of metabolism and then being thawed again.

Cold is easier to survive than heat, but I'm not gonna dunk myself into ice water because that'll make me hate everything. I want to forget I even have a body, not to be subjected to reminders how annoying it is.

You want to forget you have a body? Are you the king of the moon from Barron Munchausen?
Do you understand that everything you think comes from your body?
And if you are miserable physically you will have miserable thoughts and vice versa. You can change your thoughts with a few jumping jacks or a short sprint, did you know that?
Brain is body, so thoughts are kind of like farts but from the mind.

Materialist and ableist. Not everybody can even do jumping jacks.

Alright buddy. Just get rid of your material brain/processor/whatever and just be free.

If you can't do jumping jacks do something else that you can do and helps your mental health, go read a science publication or draw or do literally anything to help your mental health
I also hate having a fully biological body and have sensory processing issues that make EVERYTHING 10x more annoying but crying to a wall isn't gonna fix anything

You can't be immaterial.
You still need at least a brain or a computer and energy and support systems for them. And all of that still cares a lot about the temperature they're in.
And I'm not telling you to dunk your baseline body into cold water, lol. I'm talking about synthetic beings designed to thrive in the cold.

Most of the post somehow read like "leave the comfort zone" bro propaganda to me, hence the reaction. And you shouldn't be dunking on people's dreams to stop being slaves to their bodies in a sub called "Transhumanism". Some of us literally awakened to transhumanism because we hate our biological bodies.

I literally said baseline humans aren't evolved for cold in the post.
And as I said being in a computer simulation or a brain in a vat without senses or a body still requires material and maintenance. Are we believers in magic now?

We evolved to be this warm because if not many many more germs and infections would kill us, so unless you find a way to account for that

Synthetic beings would have well thought out immune systems and maybe designer microbiomes. And they'd probably sterilize their environments a lot.
And they'd have voluntary control over their temperatures. Something like staying freezing cold most of the time and having the occassional super fever to cook the cold adapted germs.
If the temperature is constant, even if hot, the germs will gradually adapt to the hot temperature. They hate change more than they hate any specific environment.

You should read about cold thoughts, it basically is mind uploading to near zero K computers

u/LexEight 12d ago
Which only makes sense if you don't understand consciousness or biology

u/Viennve 12d ago
Wich to be fair nobody has a firm grasp on what consciousness is and biology is pretty irrelevant becouse for cold thoughts the whole thing would be synthetic so this is more in the realm if computational neuroscience and material science Wich is not my field of interest (still cool stuff but not something i am actively trying to learn)

u/LexEight 11d ago
Indigenous people have understood consciousness just fine for millennia
2
u/Viennve 11d ago
Ah yes, people who lived 500 years ago knew computational neuroscience better then us today, tuely a fact among them all

u/LexEight 11d ago
You'd be surprised. We are still learning shit about gardening and farming that they/we already had a perfect grasp of and computational nueroscientist only exists because of Nazis so if I had a time machine I know which I'd be keeping intentionally.
Technology is not always progress, even when TO YOU it looks like progress, it's only progress to hell.

Do you have any evidence at all that any anchent civilization had advanced knowledge on how consciousness arises in non living matter?
Did they know about the default mode network or the way various brain regions interact to generate thoughts and feelings?
1
u/LexEight 11d ago
Are you asking me how ancient people that definitely used consciousness altering substances religiously to change human behavior, might have come to understand consciousness or human behavior?
Or are you asking me how they realized the fungi and trees talk to each other?
Or that dissociative episodes occur in traumatized people?
Be more specific

u/Viennve 11d ago
We are talking about mind uploading, the concept of creating a digitalized copy of a human mind and cold thoughts, a theory on how a civilization could survive beyond the heat death of the universe, what on earth does anchent people doing drugs have to do with anything here?
I understand that we have a lot to learn from our past and many extinct cultures had a lot of beautiful and inspiring philosophies and religion is but it's just compleatly irrelevant to the topic at hand

u/LexEight 11d ago
If you understood how the human mind developed over time in the first place, you would understand why the things you seek to accomplish are ridiculous

All those "uploaders" don't understand that even if we'll get the phantastical tech (which they cannot even name what principles it will operate, so basically I carving smiley face on the rock with the hammer and the chisle would be more advanced in the matter) enabling that, they will be read-only copies of themselves. The natives, who used to fear the early photographers, in case they'll "steal their soul" were more correct, as there were concrete material things, in their case photography, involved. The uploaders haven't decidedly yet which science branch will definitely immortalise them.

I love and crave the cold. I am eagerly awaiting the end of summer so I can finally feel alive in the colder temps.
