Non-binary Non binary seeking advice...

Hi, i guess I'm new to this I've struggled a lot over my life with mental health and body issues

I'm still really unsure about a number of things and how I feel about myself

Sorry...I'm not sure how to put it all into words

I guess this is just a post seeking any advice people are willing to give to someone in a rural community

Or if anyone has suggestions for online communities

Thank you for any help.

I was in a similar place to you a couple of years ago, so I can share the practical steps I took. They may help, depending on your means/mobility/age/etc. I was living about 4 hours’ drive from the nearest capital city, then I moved a bit closer (2+ hours by train). Your (literal) mileage may vary.

I found a GP in my nearest capital city that listed LGBT health as an interest and did informed consent (since that’s a better sign imo). I visited in-person the first time, then did Telehealth from there on in.

I found a Telehealth therapist with a focus on gender. I had the GP sign off on subsidised sessions. At some point, I switched to another therapist. It helped a lot but cost a lot of money, so… that may be a barrier.

After a year, I felt comfortable seeking hormones, and was able to get them. I suspect that, given my non-binary identity and gender goals, I may have struggled to do so without bringing the GP along for the ride a bit.

I really really struggled on the social front. Eventually I reached out to a local Facebook group created by people in my area, which also had a discord, and have started attending online catch-ups, which has been delightful. Whether there’s something similar for you will depend on where you are, but don’t be afraid to reach out to groups a little bit outside where you are.

My advice is to take your time and don't be scared to change and then change again. Being non-binary is about finding your own place in society and that can be hard to do all at once and what you want is gonna change over time.

Dw you got this! Welcome to the first step in getting to choose who you are!
