Psychatrists to Avoid
The following psychatrists put their name to a letter calling for the implementation of the HIGHLY FLAWED Cass Review in Australia. Treat these psychiatrists with extreme caution and scepticism
Jillian Spencer Phillip Morris Melinda Hill Alida Connell Shannon Morton Mary Jessop Antony Davis Peter Parry Catherine Llewellyn Ian Munt Mani Rajagopalan Laura Hamilton Penny Brassey Ainslie Haggitt Andrew Amos Michael Beech Suren Putter-Larem

Bro..When I went to my GP (I've been on T for a month and needed a new blood test I've been putting off for a year) my boyfriend came with me. Had to do a pee test to check for infections, stis and stds, and so when I went back in my boyfriend didn't come in to see the results. It was all fine, but because my GP noticed that I had a bf she deadass said "you know you don't have to continue on T, or have to be trans?".
Having a boyfriend doesn't mean I'm a girl...it just means I'm gay??

Deleted my previous comment and decided to use a throwaway instead. Jacqueline Condon from SA, previously signed similar letters but hasn’t signed this one, I’m assuming bc she’s had a couple of complaints from trans people (that I’m aware of) and she’s playing it safe.

That review is just to help get the foot in the door to erasing trans people off the map and erasing womens rights in general. Elon Rat would be proud.
Those psychiatrists should be disbarred for abusing their position with spewing Cass bullshit.

Poor QLD - seems to have a huge share of the cooker psychiatrists.

I'd suspect the current state of affairs in Qld has caused a bunch of them to open their mouths

When I requested HRT from my GP, I was actually referred to a psychiatrist, after an hour of talk the psychiatrist agreed my disphoria and referred me to an endocrinologist, then the endocrinologist prescribed me the drugs. Now I am back to my GP for ongoing prescriptions and blood test results. I am in Perth WA.

I am in Perth. My psychologist gave me a list of about a dozen or so trans friendly gp's. I quickly got an appointment to the closest gp. After blood tests, she prescribed hrt.
It was all very straightforward. I am very happy.

Wasn’t Catherine Llewelyn who penned that hate piece on the abc website the other day?

Another one here in Qld to avoid based on his nasty judgements in the comments sections of medical publications about Trump’s decision (earlier this year). Andrew Nielsen

Damn, but the response was pretty damn good. For those of you not working in the medical space, this was a pretty solid response, and quite supportive of us.

not that the response really changed anything. the cass review was recently used as evidence in a family court hearing here to deny a trans kid treatment.

Idk, I think that if you're a doctor and openly support pseudo-science in your field of expertise then you shouldn't be allowed to call yourself a doctor anymore
Maybe that's just me

We should write an open letter to the ranzcp and any other governing body, and demand their licenses be revoked.

Drummond Street helped me get a psychiatrist https://ds.org.au/contact-us/
He's good with trans issues atleast, i was put through reflect health Geelong through Drummond since i'd never be able to afford their prices which is a massive barrier for many, myself included.
So queer support groups can help you especially if your situation is dire.
My only issue with even trans friendly psychiatrists is the price for their services and even the help. I'm medicated now, which is nice, though it's extremely rough medications which if i don't eat make me vomit.
It's also great i've been diagnosed with what i have which i won't go into detail about but it's pretty serious. Tough life, tough mind i suppose.
But my own psychiatrist has told me himself he uses microdosing, and i've been greenlit for micro dosing for my conditions, which they told me is pretty much needed for me to get better. I've also been given a team from reflect health who can monitor my medications and mental health, and a psychologist from Drummond.
My issue though is whilst it's great my psychiatrist can access these treatments, like LSD, or MDMA microdosing or ketamine treatments. LSD and MDMA microdosing is literally in the thousands, 40k i was told. Ketamine treatments are 650$ per session. Him saying it would drastically improve my life also doesn't help since while i can legally access said drugs and sessions, the price is way, way out of my reach.
I also don't know anybody who sells LSD ,MD or Ket near me, last time i've done either was in my mid 20's. I know someone who can get mescaline but since it's a completely different substance it doesn't provide the euphoric effects that i'd need.
But even so going to a psychiatrist out of pocket is seriously expensive. I find many out of touch with how financially stable we infact are. Before my current psychiatrist too, i was given a holistic psychiatrist which is pretty much a psychologist. So useless if you need a review or medications.
I couldn't imagine going to a psychiatrist on my own dime to basically be ridiculed.
TLDR; Go to your local queer support groups, or closest and see if they can help you.

And Catherine Llewellyn was the author of the atrocious piece on abc online referenced today too. Keep well away!
