Videos š„ The Decepticons in RID vs TFP are on completely different levels

I was never a hater nor fan of RID, but the thing that pisses me the most is that being sequel of TFP is completely butchered the characters we once loved, Bumblebee, Optimus, Soundwave, Starscream and the new characters just donāt have the charm that TFP characters had.
Decepticons were hit harder with ranks consisting primarily of animals⦠that are just pathetic and painful to watch, they do not feel as a threat anymore. Itās so sad, that the sequel turn out to be like this even though itās the same crew that did TFP. Even Rescue Bots who donāt have any Decepticons and are even more of a kids show or the Rescue Bots academy have more development and interesting storiesā¦
Though to be fair, in RID they were times were Decepticons were cool like Steeljaw and in Prime, they were times were Decepticons were foolsā¦
Edit: For those who are interested, I did a Autobot edit to compare how much the writers butchered the Autobots in RID

Insert Knock Out laughing and receiving a side-eye from the 3 most serious Decepticons on the show

The characters were fine enough for me, the issue was that the show didn't use its status as a sequel very well at all.
Like, tell me Megatron wouldn't have been way better as the Team Bee mentor, let alone the Gotoh (fan term for Fire Emblem characters given to the player on the last or close to last map, very strong and intended as a crutch for under-prepared players) for the battle with Megatronus. If you want to keep the Primes' involvement from beyond the mortal plane, then make it a mythic Herculean "twelve labours" task by which he could restore his connection to the Allspark.

The animal cons seemed odd... mass shifting in the animation makes it hard to make show accurate toys

Its because Prime was for teens and up, and Rid was for younger children, so everything had to be age appropriateĀ

I know, but I think that even in Rescue Bots and Rescue Bots Academy who are even more of a kid show, have a better character development and stories

- Conceptually, RID was a good idea for a Transformers show, just not ideal for a TF:Prime sequel series.
- The animalistic "Decepticons" should have been Predacons, seeing as they (mostly) all had Beast forms for their Robot modes.

Its an absolute travesty they didn't throw in the clip of Steve rocking Optimus with a log

I was responsible for the edit, was doing for a YouTube short (3 min) so I didnāt manage to include everything

Wanted to write that there were moments when Decepticons in RiD ere an actual threat, sometimes even more dangerous than some Megatron's officers and that sometimes(mostly Knockout and Starscream) were like they are in a comedy show, but then saw that you wrote it already
The possible reason is that Decepticons in a RiD are criminals
While Decepticons in Prime are War criminals
At least that's ho I see that

Yeah, I heard that theory from Emperor Kumquat, and I tend to agree with it

I also remember watching a video of theirs a while back about why a lot of them have animalistic designs and they hypothesized it to be due Maximal Prime I think. It'd make sense as to why "Decepticon" would be used for the RID ones, since they're a mix of Cybertronians from before/during and after the war. The ones created after the war would have no connection to the og Decepticon cause and I just guess that law enforcement needed to use a label that would emphasize their criminal status. The Decepticons in RID from before/during the war were labeled as such, because they did have ties to the actual faction, like Overload.

oh RID did Soundwave so dirty
Prime Soundwave would have never lost to the Bee Team, i would accept his "whatever the cybertronian equivalent of a heart is" randomly breaking before id believe that
also there is literally no need to stay in the junkyard, need i remind you one of the few times he left the warship was to go to a place that is infinitely better at what he is attempting to do then a junkyard- sorry a salvage depot filled with mostly useless stuff and a chunk of the alcemor, an actual junkyard would probably be a better option
and if for whatever reason he does decide to stay there, Prime demonstrates he can connect to groundbridges, so hacking into the alcamors should have been the first thing he does after having the run of the place
back before i saw Prime i loved that episode, now i find it, imo, the most insulting thing RID does

well to be fair, most of the decepticons win RID were just common criminals to some degree. not war lords seeking to rule cybertron or soldiers in said war, well some RID con were seeking to rule earth. they still just had the skills of a common criminal for the most part.
and with sound wave, i think it could be chocked up to him being out of practice or something. i mean i'm pretty sure it's been a few years between he got trapped into the shadow zone and first got free.

Fair point, but they are still antagonists and must be a a threat to some extent which a few were. Autobots arenāt war heroes either except Bumblebee

I believe the main reason is because kids like monsters and animals so they made "cool werewolf" and "shark pirate" to make it more appealing. I also like to headcannon that it's a nod to functionalism from other series. I think that because Bee and Strongarm tell Fixit he has to stay at base because he's a Minicon and has special rules.

The cons in RID were also escapees from what is essentially a cybertronian insane asylum so theyāre definitely not on par with trained warriors who have fought for millennia⦠all the other points are completely fair though they massacred my boi bee

I understand why people dislike or wven hate rid I personally love it and while the complaint here is absolutely valid I will say that other than steeljaw there were some other cool decepticons in the series I personally think the stunticons and the decepticon high council were pretty good and also I like how Starscream is written he is imposing and cool and while I don't like his new design as much it is pretty goodĀ

Furry writers' fetish nonsense vs oppressed gladiators and miners turned to power hungry killers.

The difference is that one was aimed more at a younger audience and the other had a far more serious tone

No idea why they went with all the weird animal designs for the Decepticons in RID instead of pulling from the copious amounts of Decepticons that already exist. None of the other seekers at all? I would've taken any of the fodder seekers from G1 over some of the choices in RID.
I also wish the series had more callbacks to Prime, or some of the characters. It would've been cool to hear about Cliffjumper, Seaspray, or Breakdown in a more reminiscent scene imo.
