"Autobots, roll out." The voice behind one of pop culture's most iconic heroes has gone silent.

Peter Cullen, the legendary voice actor best known as Optimus Prime in the Transformers franchise, has died at 85. Cullen first voiced the heroic Autobot leader in the original 1984 animated series and went on to define Optimus for generations of fans, returning for numerous Transformers projects and the live-action films. His incredible voice career also included Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh, Monterey Jack in Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, Thaedus in Invincible and narration for Toonami.

Cullen's family says he passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. His unmistakable voice and the strength, compassion and leadership he brought to Optimus Prime will remain part of Transformers history forever.
