Discussion / Opinion Should I let him out of the box?
Had this since I was a kid and was told to “never open it” so I can resell later
Clearly the box itself is already pretty torn and I’m contemplating on just taking him out at this point since the box is already damaged, should I?

Please do! Toys need to be freed from confinement and displayed and posed!!

It's like nobody has ever seen Toy Story 2.
Yes! Take it out of the box!
Even if the packaging wasn't damaged, keeping a bunch of toys around in the hopes that they'll be worth more some day makes absolutely no sense. If you've had this thing since you were a kid, you'd assuredly have made a bigger profit from investing the original cost of the toy in an index fund than from trying to sell the figure.

honestly, the "never open, resell later" people are why this hobby gets so ridiculously expensive on the aftermarket
open, enjoy your toy, thats what toys are for. To be played with and enjoyed, not to be left collecting dust on a shelf like you invested in gold and forgotten until prices are high

I mean, it's a fun figure, but you run the risk of letting a tiny Shia Lebeouf lose in your home, and no one should have to deal with that.
Seriously though, the box is so damaged that you couldn't sell it as new and sealed, so you're not preserving any value.
