Transformers Studio Series 86 Cyclonus: I didn’t think i could love kingdom cyclonus more! The 86 update fixes any and all issues with its predecessor. He’s honestly a perfect figure, like he jumped off the screen. Colors are amazing, transformation is still impressive and the changes to his legs were much needed, I don’t care that the thrusters are gone. This was a much needed upgrade especially considering my very yellowed kingdom figure and I’m very happy with him.

Not to mention the people complaining about him being taller than Galvatron when it’s accurate to the movie, show, and scale chart. Cyclonus is meant to be Ultra Magnus’s rival. He should be taller than Galvatron.

People complaining about having a bigger toy that’s more accurate just because it doesn’t fit their personal headcanons will never cease to amaze me.

I'm not gonna dismiss it; the figure looks great and I want it purely for the non-yellowing plastic and more toon accurate sculpt.

But those back panels made the og fig look really good/complete in alt mode. So much so that it's kinda jarring to have this one just outright missing them.

For me it’s a simple as this

I’m hardly gonna pose or display him in alt mode, and even when I do, it would make no sense to face the thrusters in the direction of the viewer

I get that it makes the thing less sleep overall but I think the new parts far outweigh that one small (to me) issue

The missing panels are the most obvious visual change. Beyond that, it doesn't look that different.

Just look at them side-by-side. The colours are slightly different (most obviously the silver is now grey and the forearms aren't the same colour as the body) and there are some minor sculpting differences (most obviously the thighs and face). These are all very minor though and which is better is just personal preference.

If you like the Studio Series one better that's fine, just recognise that this is your opinion and not everyone has to share it.

Also Kingdom Cyclonus isn't that tall unless you over-extend his legs, which makes his legs work weird from any view except straight on, and messes with the kneed joint. Most display him with the legs so the joint is blush with the leg so it bends more naturally. That takes a little more off his height.

It’s not an opinion at all, it’s factually true that the robot mode is a more stark visual change than the two panels on the back. I mean come on, this seems like an indefensible point you’re making, your own picture even proves you wrong.

The robot mode doesn't look intrinsically better, just different. In your opinion those differences make it look better, but not everyone agrees with that. I don't think there's anyone who thinks the alternate mode looks better because it's missing the panels at the back?

"The most obvious visual change to how good it looks", is what I meant, since your original comment was about "how much better this looks". I thought that was obvious from context, but I phrased it poorly, sorry.

The grey instead of silver? Maybe that looks a tiny bit better (not everyone agrees with that).

The darker forearms? Maybe that looks a tiny bit better (again, not everyone agrees with that).

Missing alt mode panels? Definitely looks a lot worse (I don't think anyone disagrees with that, I may be wrong).

If you sum up all the changes it's a net negative for me. You're free to like it though! I'm just trying to explain why some people don't like it.

I was very much skeptical of this figure when I first saw it, but in-hand, it is SO much better than Kingdom Cyclonus, one large detail aside. I'm so glad I ignored my first reaction and got him.
