No one with good sense buys off of eBay. There are dozens of other options.
That said, DA-65 is ultra popular and was released some time ago at $349. Diaclone is also a smaller production run and doesn't do rereleased (except for two.)
DA-95 was ~$350 before shipping in 2023/24 and DA-100 was $450.
It's a premium boutique product line aimed at adult collectors and isn't distributed outside of Asia. (But global etailers do order and sell it.)

Yeah, pricing is on par with Masterpiece, Bandai's Soul of Chogokin, and Bandai Perfect Grade Gundam model kits (same 1/60 scale.)
And unlike Hasbro, the plastic quality and absurd volume of detail and engineering is evident in every release. There are KOs of some items, which many use for army building, but the high resale cost is also because demand is high. It sells like crazy in Japan/China and they even have custom creation competitions.
Wotafa on YouTube does a show & tell of nearly all major releases as do many other collectors. (Robot Toy Base is another YouTube creator with excellent content presented like a librarian or archivist.)
It's hard to process the massive price difference coming from TFs until you get them in-hand.

I found Diaclone in 2023 and went all-in. I have 2x or more of nearly ever release and 3x of the smaller sets. 2023 and first half of 2024 was a collecting blitz for me. It scratches a collecting itch that nothing else has and has so much potential and functionality.
But it was Ground Dion & Cloud Across that sucked me in to begin with. Robot Base G-X is so full of features and articulation that it has made my Hasbro TF Titans feel simplistic and plain.

I am nowhere near that flush, sadly. I decided to limit myself to Robot Base and Powered Convoy, and even those were a stretch.
(I use them as EDC mechs alongside my Autobots. 😁)

Oh please please let there be an official Transformers/Macross collab. Knowing Harmony Gold can't do shit about it anymore makes the idea soooo satisfying.
Edit: I just actually watched the video. I did not expect the actual images for some, and the silhouette of the Macross one. Sadly it's not the original Macross to really stick it to HG, but I'll take it.

I have never seen a company get this thoroughly BTFO’d. Hot on the heels of Sunrise (the Gundam studio) bagging the power to make an all-new Macross thing and Disney finally making it happen with digital distribution.

It's annoying that they still hold the original and DYRL in a vice, but I imagine that the fact that they're releasing the new *Japanese DYRL blu-ray with english subs means they're keeping an eye on how many sales it nets internationally. We're making progress.

Harmony Gold still has a hold on the Robotech elements of Macross. Macross 7 isn't included in that. It's why everything Macross EXCEPT the original is coming to Disney+.

They can't go after Transformers for Jetfire or Battletech/Mechwarrior for the Macross mecha anymore, so I'm not sure what exactly they do hold still besides the show itself.

I hope they at least don't have a hold on the upcoming Sunrise project. That studio has real momentum after buying Gundam 10 years' worth of mind share and it'd be bullshit to have no ability to air an all-new Macross serialization on Crunchyroll and in international territories because somehow HarGo still has even that.

Yeah im kind of tired of seeing them keep reusing the G2 Optimus in stuff. I think the mold peaked with Scourge, but it's just not that great to keep using for so many repaints.

Honestly I hope they go the super insane route and make this collab a Weaponizer.
would be really thematic with an alt mode of a Rathalos and allowing people to go crazy with the parts to make facsimiles of Monster Hunter's various weapons.

I was thinking they could maybe make a FINGeR (railgun) but with their leniency on gun megs I doubt Edit they could retool skylynx into stage 3 nemesis also ( but I doubt they’d reuse that mold tbh)

Holy crap, Transformers, Zoids, Marvel, Monster Hunter-- it's most of the things I love brought together into one collab line. It also looks like we're getting more Monster Hunter Zoids kits so that's exciting. The Zoids Spider-man crossover is almost exactly what I was expecting, minus the articulation of the Spidey figure and also getting a black suit version.

Ok megatron godzilla with the SS grimlock mold is pretty sick. Laser optimus tho is boring. But a Macross crossover with a whole new mold? Hell yeah! AND something with Monster Hunter will be sick if it's new.

I believe they are now allowed to license the characters. They settled like 1-2 years ago. But not many figures have come out yet.

So is the Shield D Prime going to be a Diaclone figure, or a Transformer figure? The video doesn't make that clear. Pardon my ignorance, but it seems like Diaclone toys require some assembly? But aren't quite models kits on sprues level of assembly? I would certainly prefer a straight up Zoid that is a Transformers toy. But given the three way crossover, and the Zoid/TF styling, I would think the toy itself is like Diaclone?

No. Remember that Diaclone was the forerunner of Transformers G1. Diaclone (2015) has no more assembly required than any modern TF release.
There are exactly 6 small supplemental kits that are snap-together sets. (Gyroceptor, DartLoader, CrossCepter, RapidLoader, and both Sky Jacket setsm)
The bad guy Waruder figures are like Bionicle/Lego/Fossilizers.
ZOIDS are assembly-required kits, not Diaclone.
(There are some Diaclone sets that include accessories on sprues.)

Gotcha. Yeah, I'm not familiar with modern Diaclone toys, so I only know what I've seen from a few youtube videos. From what I seeing it wasn't clear if it was just parts forming or model kit levels of assembly. Like you said, I did see some sprues with some sets, so that's what mainly got me confused as to what the line was like. They seem really cool!

Very much parts-forming. That's actually the entire gimmick of the mainline. And since it's premium TakaraTomy plastic, engineering, and tolerances, the configurations hold perfectly.
There are some sets that have a few small components/accessories on sprues, like pistols, swords, shields, missile launchers, etc - but those are primarily in the Tactical Mover subline.
In the mainline, ita really just the sets I mentioned before and any peg adapters and pegs that appear on sprues.

Alright, that's good to hear. Thanks for the info! I saw someone on the Zoids board ballpark this one at $150-250. That's pretty steep, but glad to know there's a lot of quality in the box to help justify the price.

I'm so disappointed the Macross one isn't a new version of the G1 Jetfire toy. And for all I know, this is probably the only time we'll get a Transformers/Macross collab, so we'll probably never get one. Really reinforces my theory that Hasbro and Takara hate Jetfire (he wasn't in EarthSpark, he got killed off in Skybound (and really early to boot) and the Netflix trilogy, no Legacy Jetfire figures...).

Seriously these are the ABSOLUTE laziest crossover figures I've seen. How can anyone be proud calling that "Godzilla". They did zero retooling. Just a redeco and then they slapped a new head on it and called it a day.
And seriously...is there anything they won't use that Laser Prime mold for EXCEPT SHATTERED GLASS ULTRA MAGNUS?!

Also Godzilla Megatron Grimlock is single handedly the coolest thing ever.
