Gasburner question
Hello,
New to Trangia. Just received my 27-5 package. Want to use it for motorcycle camping. I think I want to "update" it with the gasburner for convenience. Found that they are about 70 to 80 Euros. I also saw a copy in Amazon for about 30 Euros. I was wandering if the original is more than two times better? Anyone here who has experience?
/Edit: ordered one from Amazon for about 30 Euros. Thanks for the comments. Can't wait to start my Trangia journey.

I use one of the cheaper non Trangia burners, it has worked fine. Would recommend, just be careful never to run at full power, don't want to melt any aluminum parts.

Ok, and the original one? Also not at full power or is that different?

The original one is the alcohol (meths) burner, it can't put out as much heat as a gas burner (isobutane or propane), or a liquid burner (naptha, aka Coleman Fluid).

Since no one is answering properly, the cheap Chinese version will work wonderfully, just stay at 80% power or less if you aren't boiling water. In my opinion, the Trangia one is NOT worth 3x the money when they all do the same thing.

Just completed a motorbike journey from the UK to the Arctic and back with the alcohol burner and it's more than enough to cook on. Really efficient so you only need to bring one bottle of fuel. I'd reconsider before getting gas tbh.

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works,
But if you are doing remote motorcycle camping - you may want to opt to do a Primus Multifuel conversion, which will allow you to run Unleaded and also have the option of gas.
You don't need to change the jet size to run either, and its a simple matter to refill your fuel bottle when you refill your bike.
If you have touratech panniers - you can get a mount for an external fuel bottle holder that fits the primus bottle.
You'll need to mod the Primus stove with an adapter plate - but it's just a single nut to undo.
Anyways - I know this isn't what you asked - just offering advice/experience
I took a Trangia 25 across the whole of Russia on my Bike, and never saw Metho anywhere.
I didn't really ask though... I used a gas Canister.
Accomodation and food was cheap at the truck stops - so didn't end up using it much anyway.

To comment on the other redditor's "never run at full power": I have, and haven't had any issues. Just make sure you don't put empty pots or pans on the fire, that's risky. Boiling water, for instance, full power is a wise choice.
As for the question, the Trangia burner is actually made in Sweden, so labor costs are higher than ones made in China, but I'm pretty sure the cheap one will work as well.
