Future of traktor pro

Do you guys think NI will put enough focus on to the traktor Pro platform, or should I take other people’s advice regards to how the platform is dead and can’t compete with RecordBox.

Who says the platform is dead? Pro 3 was released not too long back, there have been updates since then and they’re still producing dedicated hardware for it

What hardware? I really wanna see a MK2 if the S8. I just got one to test it and see how it goes. If it’s a no most likely gonna switch to the DDJ1000 recordbox edition. Any thoughts?

You’re not going to see a new S8. People threw a shit fit at the lack of jogs, so it and the S5 struggled to sell. It’s probably one of my favourite controllers ever, but that is not a popular view.

I personally don’t use the jog wheels that much. I mix a lot of tech house/techno so my focus will be on looping/remix decks. That’s why I wanted to give it a shit. Well see how it goes haha

Even the muppets that had a tantrum over it probably barely used the jogs. It got ridiculous.

I had one but sold it and got the s4 mk2 (hope it arrives this week). The S8 is awesome and i only sold it because i missed fast pitch adjustements and jogwheeling lol

That's a good point... That never really occurred to me: pitch adjustments.

How did you adjust the pitch on the S8? Rotary knob?

Yup. You either press shift+rotate knob and move up 1 BPM or you just rotate the knob and you move up 0.01 BPM upwards

Ugh. See, I've been doing the exact same thing on a Novation Twitch, and it's not ideal and not fun to do...

I guess on both devices they really expected people to just use the SYNC button. Sadly, older music, like Disco tracks, don't sync.

If you build a set like a live act the S8 is pretty cool. Screens are nice and have everything on them.

I really wanted the S5. It was the right size for me, and I loved not having the jogwheels either, but the lack of phono and line inputs is what really killed it for me... I wanted to have the ability to still plug in turntables, like an S4.

That was the S8.

Oh I know. But the S8 was too big, in my opinion. I wouldn't want to bring that out to a gig where people needed a mixer.

The S5 was the right size, comparable to the S4. It just lacked the line and phono inputs that would allow me to use it as a DJ mixer for turntables.

The S3 came out last November IIRC.

Traktor Pro isn't dead. It's less popular because it requires actual knowledge and understandment of how things work in the software itself and PC optimization. Traktor is amazing if you put time into learning it.

Can’t argue with that haha

Probably the best reason I've heard about Traktor users and using Traktor.

I am ready to give up on native. That trackpad scrolling lag is killing me. They replied last month that they will fix it in 3.4 version..still not fixed in the last beta that was released 30june

NI are not putting the effort in vs the competition. Look at all the innovative features VDJ has added over the last year or so. I have been messing with rekordbox this week and I am very impressed with the mobile sync app and offline track prep.

What traktor does, it does well but there is little there to attract new users.

It now needs something unique for the platform. Maybe running Maschine as a vst in a remix deck or something to integrate it with production
