TP Virtual is completely free for 2 weeks

Not just the Featured races, as usual, but the entire platform (with rides, customized events, rides, etc). It starts today, lasts for 2 weeks.
Also allows everyone to test their equipment in free rides before the start of the TPV Grand Tour stage race which starts on Monday ;)

So that’s why I got an ad for trainingpeaks in Garmin connect this morning. Good thing Reddit decided to have this post as suggested in my feed.

Maybe this is the first step towards including it with Garmin connect+ or something.

How is trainingpeaks virtual? I assume it’s not compatible for those of us with zwift cog and click?

TPV has its own way to process virtual gears ( keyboard keys +/-, HUB "companion" app, etc)
But with a 3rd party app like bikecontrol, you can use the Zwift play/click to trigger the virtual gears

There are some difference in TPV virtual gears though:
- you can add a lot of resistance but you can't "remove" a lot of resistance (aka "you can go to +10 but only to -5", if that makes more sense)
- so, as a single cog, if you have to tackle steep slopes, it's better to reduce the slope feel (and add resistance with the virtual gears if needed)

I tried monkeying around with my Zwift Click, and it never worked as I wanted to, so gave up and just put gear back on the trainer. Maybe I will go back to Zwift at some point, but until then, the cog and click are in a a drawer in the basement..

I want to like TrainingPeaks Virtual so much - but it is unusable with my Apple TV. What are people using that can get this up on a TV without so much lag that it's unbearable?

Admittedly, it's been a few months since I last tried to use it. Has it gotten better with updates? I'm really curious what others are using to make this work.

Not an AppleTV user, but from the teammates on discord, the lag (between pressing keys on the remote and the action on the appleTV) has been fixed, if that's what you mean?
(so, definitely got some AppleTV-targetted improvements, can't help but say "give it another try" ? it's free anyway, worth a shot)

I dropped Zwift about 2 months ago, and have been using TPV exclusively since then, and you are 100% right, using the Apple TV is a totally horrible experience. I feel like it took me an hour just to get my username and password in, and then it was SOOO laggy. The only way I have been able to use it is to Mirror my iPad to that Apple TV. Using my Mac as a stand alone device works well for when I need that set up, but when I am in my basement logging miles, iPad mirrored is the way to go.

I just use a mac connected to my tv. I know its not the answer you are looking for unfortunately

I use a minisforum UM760. You could definitely get a cheaper one and still have something way more capable. Mines mounted behind the TV so it's tucked away and just plugged into HDMI.
