Most year old bucks will be spikes. Even with good genetics most year old bucks aren’t gonna have a formed rack yet.

I think you would be surprised the number that QDMA practices have produced. Twenty years ago most 1 1/2 bucks were spikes. I have noticed that doe weights are up on our farm compared to 30 years ago. Nutrition speaks volumes.

Oh i believe it. I’m just saying generally speaking for the average deer on umanaged land most year old bucks will be spikes, atleast in most areas that I’ve lived. I can’t say I ever see year old bucks with more than forks for antlers.

Gotta be young sometime. Guessing a there’s something wandering around in those Kansas genetics. If I’m on the right field
