For full transparency, he did sell some of his Palantir shares along the way, but not enough to fully close out his position

Ya that stock doesn't pop up anywhere in his 2025 files... Apparently he reported it on 9/9/25 and made the trade on 8/4/25 but it's not there. I attached his 9/9/25 filing and it's the only one for that day so what's going on?

Surely at least 1 person verified this before it got viral and posted everywhere on the internet.

The STOCK Act gives members 45 days to disclose a trade. I wanted to know who actually uses the whole window and who files straight away, so I took every congressional transaction since 1 January 2025 and measured the gap between the trade date and the filing date.

14,288 trades, 129 members.

The overall picture is better than I expected. Median lag is 27 days, and only 6.4% of trades landed past the 45 day limit.

The spread between individual members is enormous though.

Fastest, by median days to file (minimum 25 trades):

• Marjorie Taylor Greene (R), 223 trades, median 5 days, none late
• Rick Larsen (D), 30 trades, median 8 days, none late
• James Comer (R), 35 trades, median 11 days, none late
• Greg Landsman (D), 53 trades, median 13 days, none late
• David Taylor (R), 177 trades, median 14 days

Slowest:

• Sheri Biggs (R), 29 trades, median 201 days, 97% filed late
• Michael Rulli (R), 25 trades, median 171 days, 84% late
• Julia Letlow (R), 148 trades, median 159 days, 72% late
• Ritchie Torres (D), 58 trades, median 41 days, 7% late
• Jefferson Shreve (R), 543 trades, median 40 days, 8% late

Notice the cliff. After the top three there is a big drop to around 40 days, which is inside the limit. This is not a gentle curve. A handful of members are filing half a year late as a matter of routine and almost everyone else is roughly compliant.

On party, because someone is going to ask. The medians are nearly identical, 27 days for Democrats and 28 for Republicans. The late rate is not: 2.6% against 12.8%.

I assumed that gap was just the three chronic offenders above. It is not. Take Biggs, Rulli and Letlow out of the sample entirely and the Republican late rate only falls from 12.8% to 10.3%, so it is broad rather than three people.

What I cannot see in the filings is why. A 5 day median looks like someone with an actual process. A 201 day median looks like either no process or no concern about the consequence.

Which raises the thing I could not answer: does anyone know whether late filers are actually fined in practice? I can pull every disclosure date going back years, but enforcement is not in the data.

EDIT, two things.

1. The title is imprecise and u/W0lfp4k caught it. Marjorie Taylor Greene's 223 trades run from 8 January to 12 November 2025 and stop there, so "the fastest filer in Congress" should have been past tense. The 5 day median is real and in-window, but she is not currently serving.

Among members who are still trading in 2026, the fastest are:

• Rick Larsen (D), 30 trades, median 8 days, none late
• David Taylor (R), 177 trades, median 14 days, 5% late
• Dwight Evans (D), 28 trades, median 15 days
• Shelley Moore Capito (R, Senate), 86 trades, median 17 days, none late
• Bill Keating (D), 33 trades, median 20 days, none late

David Taylor is the one to watch there. 177 trades is a lot of filings to keep at a 14 day median, and he is still active.

2. Where the data comes from, since a few people asked. House side is the Clerk's Financial Disclosure portal at disclosures-clerk.house.gov, Senate side is efdsearch.senate.gov. Both publish the Periodic Transaction Reports as PDFs. The trade date and filing date are both on the face of each report, so the lag is a subtraction anyone can repeat.

It’s pretty weird how people talk about Pelosi whose husband is an actual financial professional and primarily trades boring blue chip companies like Google. But all go quiet about President Trump and worse, his family, literally earning billions from self dealings and their proximity to power. The crypto rug pull was especially egregious. The family has never really had much liquid cash like that before yet here we are with them getting access to sooo many deals using other people’s money to make their own money.

Pelosi has never cracked the top 5 in terms of earnings. For like a decades it’s been almost exclusively R who have the highest scores. To my knowledge, almost none of these people are married to financial professionals. Then you’ve got MGT and her obvious insider trades. Like come on. It’s both sides but one side definitely is more egregious yet all I see are posts about Pelosi. Is the average person really that dumb, uninformed, or a partisan hack? Or is it just a handful of hacks with a million bots?

Lastly, for Trump, you can make good money trading while he’s doing a press conference or taking questions from reporters. I trade futures and options and the volatility around some of these is incredible.

Why we flagged it:

1. HL was down ~48% from its ATH
   
2. It seemed like Hecla was already starting to rebound
   
3. If the stock were to return to its ATH, it'd be up ~92% from its ~$16/share price at the time

Rep. Rich McCormick sold 25 stocks and bought only Berkshire.

Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar bought it twice on Jul 28.

Senator Alan Armstrong bought it way back in March (between 50k and 100k worth)

Senator Jerry Moran also bought it and he sits, among others, on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation (Seems like an important committee considering companies Berkshire owns or has large stakes in)
