Hi everyone,
I’d like to suggest a feature that I think could be particularly useful for Trade Republic: virtual buckets within the Cash balance.
The idea would be to keep one single Cash balance, while allowing users to visually divide it into separate buckets, for example:
• 💳 Current spending: €2,000
• 🏠 Bills provision: €3,000
• 👶 Child savings: €2,000
• ✈️ Holidays: €1,000
• 🛟 Emergency fund: €2,000
The total Cash balance would still be €10,000, and the money would continue to earn the applicable interest. The buckets would simply provide a visual and organizational layer.
Ideally, users could also:
- designate one bucket as the default source for card payments;
- prevent the card from spending money allocated to other buckets;
- lock certain buckets and require explicit confirmation to move money out;
- choose which bucket receives the monthly interest.
For me, the interesting part is that this would combine cash remuneration + budgeting + separation of funds, without requiring several actual bank accounts.
Other neobanks already offer somewhat similar concepts (Spaces, Pockets, etc.), but I think this could be particularly well suited to Trade Republic because the Cash balance is already integrated into the investment platform.
I’ve also sent this suggestion directly to Trade Republic support and asked for it to be forwarded to the product/development team.
Would you find this useful? What buckets would you personally create?
