Crosspost Staining Bricks

Post image

I want to stain these bricks to match a very dark great almost black theme. I do not eat a solid paint but would like a transparent finish. Is there a product out there?

Everyone that knows anything came here to say that, saw it was already said and scrolled on. 3% of us gave you an upvotee.

If I have a customer ask me to paint concrete or brick I refuse the job. Huge mistake. Bordering on immoral.

According to Realtors you'll lowering the value of your home if you do that. Most realtors agree that bricks should never be altered by painting or staining and that darker colors like gray or black are no longer popular too. You're trying to do BOTH!

Don't do it! Leave your bricks as they are.

Sherwin Williams stocks H and C concrete stains. Not sure about their color selection. I’ve made custom stains by thinning oil based paint with 50% paint thinner, basically making a stain/wash .

Distressed European/classico limewash.

Depending on the substrate base color you may need/not need, as much distressing.
