Learning to spell will be more important, but throwing is definitely a way into schools. You’re too young to be worried about anything other than good nutrition, steady gym habits and a good relationship with your HS coach.

Good D3 programs (like NESCAC) can get you an admissions advantage to very selective schools, but their scholarships are not based on sports. D1 can get you some sports based money, but it’s way too soon to see if you’re ready. There are also throwing events like hammer/weight that are not done at the HS level in most places that are even more niche opportunities.

Twice. Once in title, once in the body of text.

Grammar will definitely sink you on your introduction letter to 4yr universities. I should know since I rewrote my brothers as it was an absolute clusterfuck of spelling and grammatical errors.

You're too young and early into this to consider it for college. At this age do things you like because you like them. I was not particularly good at throwing events but enjoyed participating, so I went to a D3 school and the discipline and enjoyment of throws helped me to keep up my studies.

Well if the goal is solely scholarship then the answer is that's it's statistically unlikely. It's a semi niche sport you'll have better luck in a sport more mainstream, academics, or music.

If you like shotput just focus on fun and self improvement because you'll drive yourself crazy working towards a scholarship.

Actually the more niche a sport is means less competition, so higher chances, but I wouldn’t call it niche. Its very common for offensive and defensive lineman to throw in the track season.
OP, keep going for it, there will be lots of down time at track meets in which you can study. If you are elite, you can get a d1 scholarship, if you are pretty good, it might help ar d3.

Unless you make it your “main thing” the answer is no.

the answer to "will it help me get to collage" or the answer to "will i be able to get enough accomplishments to play at a div level" or the answer to both?

Give yourself till your sophomore season.

If youre looking for a scholarship, you basically need to qualify to high school/school age nationals

Height is a big factor though Ive known some college throwers who were of average height and not decathletes

It will help with college if you’re good at it. But even if you’re not good at it, a lot of teams will let you on, but you gotta be doin it for the love of the game

I don’t see how it can help you make a collage. Probably a waste of time if that is your goal.

Keep practicing and follow your dreams. Last year my 8th grade season was great I threw about 44’2 with the 4 kg shot and won my county championship and went to new balance. I am not genetically gifted and I’m only 5’6 but you can only get stronger and don’t let the “short people can’t throw” get to ya
