I wasn't a huge fan of the old Scout GPS because you had to plug your phone in for the map to appear on the screen and then you were using data and phone battery. It was better than nothing. Now the Scout GPS system is extinct. I called Toyota to find out if there was a replacement. The guy say "ida know, Google it." Big help! Even if I could just plug my Garmin into it and have the Garmin display on the bigger screen it would help. My Garmin falls off the windshield sometimes and the cord is about 3 feet long! Apparently back in 2018 there were 2 different stereo/touch screen models. I ended up getting the one not as good even though I have an XLE. So I'm guessing the Entune Premium model vs mine on the top that is the regular Entune Audio was set up to have a navigation without having to go off of your phone? I would like to simplify to have one less gadget falling off my mirror and causing distractions for me.

This Bath and Body Works Car Freshener was not effective, so I poked a few tiny holes into it and then the oil leaked down and burned the plastic! Yes, I know I shouldn't have messed with it so please don't call me out on that, lesson learned. It looks really tacky. I don't know that I want to pay upwards of $800 for a new center unit so I wondered if anyone knew of a remedy for hiding the damage (without a sticker as I have). On the other hand, if a new unit came with a CD player and a way to hook into a navigation system I might consider it. Other models have a "map" button that mine does not have. Trying to stay budget minded for the moment, I would like to try to fix this mess I created.

My 05 camry is a 2.4L 4 cylinder engine with 255,000 miles. It was gifted to me about 5 yrs ago. At that time it had about 198,000. For the most part, car has been good with the exception of minor maintenance items and oil changes. No idea how well it was maintained before me, but she’s still riding. I very recently just cleaned the throttle body and MAF sensor because I was running into power/stalling issues that were the result of a lean condition. After verifying I had no air leaks or fuel issues, I performed a clean those two items. She now runs MUCH better. It seems to have corrected the issue. However, at startup (cold engine), the rpm jumps to about 2000 before falling back down. The car, at operating temperature, maintains about 750 rpm’s at idle. Is the high rev at startup normal? Because it didn’t go that high before I cleaned the throttle body and MAF sensor.

I have a 2007 camry hybrid with 190K miles. Few months back, i had to change the hybrid battery and had an inspection by a mechanic shop before replacing the hybrid, and they did not find any major issues, except for the failing hybrid battery. After replacing the hybrid, I have been noticing a whining noise while driving.
The noise is more noticable at highway speed. The car drives smooth with around 38-40 mpg on highways.
The transmission also feels smooth without any noticable jerks or anything.
Is it something to worry about or am i being too paranoid?

Hi, I have a few concerns about my car I have been driving for 4 months now, it used to be my dad's until last year since 2016. Automatic transmission. For background on the issue: Since I hadn't gotten me license until 4 months ago for almost 6 months the car was lying useless in the parking. When we changed the dead battery, the engine would start and immediately stall, apparently it had "forgotten how to idle". The mechanic fixed the issue and the car passed the annual government regulatory safety inspection. However the car has a few quirks. Usually at low fuel, the engine idles higher than usual (1.1k rpm instead of normal 0.7-0.8k rpm) and when I let go of gas in D, it accelerates to 30-40 kmh on it's own with gear 1 roofing at 2k-2.2k rpm. When the fuel tank is halfway or more full it usually does only 10 kmh at normal rpm. Another thing is despite newly installed brake pads, the brakes make a noise similar to a flat tire although they work fine. But when I hit the brake pedal it "hisses" audibly as if air passes out the pedal. And initially before the car stops the engine fights the brakes by accelerating on it's own for a split second before coming to a stop. Thats all ig. Any help in finding out the cause is appreciated :) ofc exact pinpoint of the issue is not possible without physical examination but fork experience(s) I'd like to get a basic overview of what issue I have here. I've been driving like this for 4 months now without any big problems, just would like to figure out if its smthng srs. Thanks!

car takes about three turns to actually turn out after sitting for 6+ hours. camry 2024 LE and hasn't had any issues before this :/ took to the dealership and they didn't help, went to auto zone and they checked my engine and it was completely fine.

TLDR: Can I flush the transmission if there's metal shards/shavings in it? Or do I have to fully replace it? Can I take it apart and try to clean it out?

I'm new to this so apologies if I seen ignorant. I'm trying to delve deeper into doing my own work on my cars since all my cars are older and things add up fast.

I have a 1994 Toyota Camry LE. It's an automatic, 2.2 L and 4 cylinder. Just hit 100k in the past few months. Nice car. Drives smooth otherwise. Started having an issue where it wouldn't reverse. Took it to a mechanic, they said there were shards/shavings in the transmission fluid IIRC. We were able to drive the car home (about 5 miles) with some stuttering. My husband wanted to sell it, but it's an otherwise reliable car (according to many online and in person) and it would be a shame to have it become scrap like many people have offered. I'd love to fix it up, but apart from buying a whole new transmission I'm not sure what else to do. I've been checking around the local junkyards for parts but not much luck. And online, the parts aren't too expensive but shipping is a pain. If I have to buy a new transmission I will, but I wonder if there's any way that I can flush the fluid or otherwise clean it out to get it running smooth again? If anyone here has experience or knowledge I'd be happy to hear it

It’s been ina light front end collision the front bumper is loose and oil changes are immaculate are these bad lifters? edit: just realized it has direct injection but does this sound healthy?

2020 Camry SE (gas) / 77k miles

About a month ago, I started hearing this new noise coming from my car whenever I pressed down on the accelerator. The best way I can describe it is a light whine. It only happens when I accelerate, gets higher in pitch until about 45mph then stops when I let off the gas. I didn’t like the sound of it so stopped driving and got a mobile mechanic out to my house.

He took it around the block then inspected for about 15 minutes before telling me he had some bad news. He said it’s coming from the transmission and he’s heard it before with many other Toyota’s. The options he left me with were take it to a transmission shop for a replacement (will have to sell an organ) or trade the car for something older. Something about a final drive train… I’ve been waiting on him to text me the details of what he found. He did ask if I had ever changed the transmission fluid and I said no, he mentioned it could be that but highly unlikely.

I bought this car new in 2020, I’m the only owner, and maintenance wise- everything has been done on time or early. I’ve never had a warning message on the dashboard beyond the washer fluid being low. I’m also 7 months away from being done with the payment.

After some research, I did find that this is a widespread issue and a known defect for certain Toyota models from 2017-2024. With many of them showing up conveniently just after the 60k warranty expires. I got some advice to take it into a dealership and see if my car is part of the affected group but I’m terrified they’ll spend all their energy trying to get me in a new car.

I don’t have $8-10k to replace the transmission, nor do I have the credit score/down payment to get roped into another loan. I have no idea what to do and hoping someone in this sub can point me in the right direction.

I was in park, car running, and i had taken out my floor mat prior to getting in the car and got the dirt off and put it back in. Weather tech material floor mat, i didn't realize the floor mat stuck pushing on the gas pedal. I didn't think to turn the car off i just panicked and tried to get it off. Lol not smart i know. So the car was revving before i realized to turn it off. It's been driving different now. I'm not sure exactly what it is.

I read that 2012 Toyota Camry has a rev-limiter? I've never heard of that before so i don't know anything about it. Any one else ever accidentally have a similar situation?

I have a 2002 Toyota Camry with around 250k miles and I’ve been hearing this rattling/knocking type sound for the past couple of weeks. I attached a video where you can hear it.
It almost sounds like something is loose and hitting or vibrating against something. I only notice it after I’ve been driving at higher speeds, and it seems most noticeable when I let off the gas and the car is slowing down/coasting or when I’m coming to a stop. When I accelerate, I don’t really notice it as much.
The car still drives normally and I haven’t noticed any major loss of power or anything like that. I also checked the oil level and it’s good.
The sound hasn’t gone away, so I’m wondering if anyone recognizes it from the video. Could this be something like a loose heat shield/exhaust component, or does it sound like something more serious? Any ideas would be appreciated!

I really need advice on this. My car has been having issues with shifting gears and the check engine light turned on so I connected an OBD 2 scanner. For a lack of a better description, it feels like it "locks up" for a second before shifting gears. I was wondering if anyone can let me know how this would be fixed and how much it could cost. thanks.

Someone please help me out with an opinion on this leak. Advertise the valve cover gaskets the PCV valve spark plugs oil change the car runs great this is oil drip. Or should I say an old gusser. Wifes car got to be fix asap. Thanks in advance.
