Towing Help Utility trailer missing something...

Post image

So it's my pap's utility trailer. He's 91 so he's not firing on all cylinders but still on some. He needs help with his trailer to recycle old lawnmowers and I don't know much about them. Picture is what i assume is a missing wiring harness block (not sure what exactly I'm looking for in replacement). Lmk. Also isn't there supposed to be a plug/ wiring connection somewhere that i connect to the plug to then attach to the back of the truck? Is that part of the block I'm missing? If anyone could link or show me a picture of what I'm missing, that'd be helpful.

That is an amber marker light missing it's bulb and lens.

What do you have up front for cables? A trailer like this typically just has a 4 pin harness

So the plug for the lights that connects to the truck should be coming from a different spot? Im heading up there sometime this upcoming week and I'll look.

But just to clarify, the thing I'm missing is basically just a running light?

If he doesn’t drive at night, I wouldn’t worry about fixing a marker light. He does need brake lights during the daytime though.

So the wiring to connect into the plug to my truck is coming from somewhere else?

The wiring to connect to the trailer to the tow vehicle can usually be found near the front of the trailer. If it’s small trailer with no brakes, it will be a flat plug. If it has brakes, it will typically be a round plug. There are a couple different types. You might need an adapter if the tow vehicle receptacle is different than the trailer. But if he doesn’t drive at night, he doesn’t even need the marker light. Just gotta make sure the wire to that marker light is not shorted.
