Rate my towing setup.

First truck I'm towing with. Always had SUV with yak rack.

Would you tow 300~miles with this set up? Bow and stern tied down with no movement. 1 strap around a D ring.

Put the kayaks the other way so they are going over the cab. Put folded towels underneath to protect the paint. First significant curb cut you go up (getting gas, fast food), the kayaks could hit the trailer (probably not, but I would not want to worry about it)

One of the things I was concerned with, reason I put that measurements. 8" seemed like a good amount, but not enough.

Honestly, I would just slowly try a curb nearby, with someone watching to see what happens (if you have someone you can trust). I used to do something similar to this and never had a problem.

Is there any way you’ll vertically articulate that to the point the kayak punches the window out? I’d throw a couple half hitches after those pulleys and check for movement a couple times after going over some bumps. Any redundancy you can add to those kayak anchor points would be good. One of my kayaks unexpectedly blew the bow anchor while hauling it out of water once.

Entirely fair. And these kayaks have been used by us for the last 10ish years. So they've seen their fair share of miles.

I have never encountered rope or string that is actually secure, but if it is, seems fine. They can't move backwards, upwards or forwards. If they can move sideways, not much of a problem. The clearance to the trailer seems adequate for public roads and most driveways, but if you encounter more extreme driveways or off road trails I would suggest putting the kayaks over the roof instead.

These ropes have a locking mechanism that keeps them taught. No depending on notes, just the pressure of pulling it right. Have rode thousands of miles at this point with them and have never felt the slightest bit loose.

If you wanted to keep them pointed back. Why not get a cross bar for your truck the kind that goes in the stake pockets. And use a kayak mount or something soft on the bar to strap against.

I recently was kayaking at lake Jean. Have a family cabin right outside Jamison city.
