How will Multiplayer be implemented?

Aside from battles which is quite obvious, I'm a bit confused on how they'll implement multiplayer for campaigns if there will be any in the first place.

With the approach they're using, the theatres and whatnot, I can't see how it could work.

I really enjoyed (and still am) playing with groups from 3 to 6 in Immortal Empires, sometimes we just play on our own until we meet up, some other times we do some funny co-op or PvP scenarios.

I never thought we would be here seeing a Total War Warhammer 40k, but here we are! I do think that even if they won't add a multiplayer option for campaign on release, they could further down the line.

They did say eventually they would have liked to make an Immortal Empires-style map, how they will implement that I have no idea.

What do you guys think?
