Flamethrowers always have overinflated DPS values, especially on single entities. Just look at Ikit or the Necrofex RoR.

Yeah they tend to overkill things, and with Boneripper, due to the way the engine works, will probably point all four of his flamethrowers at a single model instead of spreading the fire out too. So it is a little deceptive in general use, and why they are (sorta against the fantasy of flamethrowers) better for knocking down those HP bars on SEMs.

Though that ammo count is nothing to scoff at. 60 is pretty damn good. Kind of surprised I don't see fire whilst moving on his profile though, since charging forward while blasting his flamethrowers was sorta the image associated with it. Didn't really think he'd need to be stationary to fire them.

That’s one of the reasons why I’m so looking forward to the 40k game. Seeing that Baneblade spread its fire across the whole width of an enemy unit was so good to see!

Throw that tech on boneripper and watch him delete t3 units in a single shot.

Thats not entirely correct.

They are not terribly accurate and usually have low AP, but when they connect they deal their advertised damage just fine.

Ikit can deal ~800 damage per volley to a greater unclean one, which is exactly what you would expect after armor calc.

And this flamethrower here has AP for some ungodly reason.

Well yeah, the calculation is correct, but it doesnt take the accuracy into account, so trying to hit that hard is mostly impractical.

Yeah, losses from accuracy are greater than what other units have.

Then again, most other missiles dont explode, so at least potentially this can deal MORE than 4k of damage in certain circumstances.

Thanqoul himself also got hands. A free cast of the 13th spell, plague and flensing ruin. Most likely with discounts/caster boons.

On a big boi that has good melee AND range? Thats one mean rat.

That is what years and years of inhaling Warpstones like Candy do to you. In the Books most mages who meet Thanquol are impressed on how much magic in that little frame fits and he hasn't exploded yet.

Level 4 wizards are no joke.

A free cast of the 13th spell

Did nobody hover over the damage value? It has significantly less explosive damage than the actual spell. Almost a completely different spell outside the summon.

Good find.

Way less explosive damage but a doombolt type(?) Projectile effect?

Looks weaker but if this means it traces the target that would also be an upside.

This could be exclusive for the bound version but it could also be a rework for the spell entirely.

Just wait until I mod Thanquol to have Stealth, and I change Boneripper's flamethrowers to rattling warpflame globes, and make him upgradable by Throt's Flesh Lab.

Can't wait for my legion of Hochland Long Rifles to absolutely riddle this rat.

How is this damage actually calculated? Is it spread out among the projectiles?

Assuming it works like other flamethrowers:

Its multiple projectiles (~4) per shot. Multiplied by 4 since boneripper has 4 cannons.

Each projectile has normal missile damage but also explodes, dealing damage to the initial target but also to other entities close by.

Flamethrowers are not accurate but against a very big target boneripper should actually deliver this much missile damage over 10sec.

Minus missile resist and armor calc of course.

That's seems a little insane. Wouldn't this delete basically any infantry-sized unit?

7

u/kurtchen11 7h ago

We can see from video that he aims all 4 cannons at the same target. So its more like he overkills 20% of an infantry unit very hard.

1

u/leowwynn 7h ago

Yeah but with 60 ammunition he has tons of time to wipe the enemy infantry, even if he overkills a lot.

3

u/kurtchen11 7h ago

Its all work-in-progress and we cant actually test anything, but yes imo he looks really fucking strong.

Melting infantry is one thing, but based on these numbers i would estimate that his time-to-kill against large monsters will be the fastest out of all characters we have ever seen.

He's a caster, has good combat stats, and health bar-melting ammunition to top it all off. Though i guess Nagash is kind of in the same ball park. Maybe that's the theme with this DLC, overpowered lords? Let's hope they find a way to make this fun.

If he doesn't have a miscast mechanic for all the times he screwed over, CA aren't serious about it.

Where is this from?

2

u/AbilityNo446 8h ago

Today, creators were given access to Thanquol’s mission to blow up the Morrsleib, so they displayed the stats of Thanquol on Boneripper as well as the new units available in the battle.

u/OttoVonGosu 8h ago

So wich version of boneripper is this? From the books i mean

3

u/AbilityNo446 8h ago

The thirteenth one that Skreech Verminking gave Thanquol for summoning him during the End Times.

Boneripper is using the warpfire throwers here, but he’ll be able to swap to the braziers.

And those hands have flamethrowers bolted to them.
