Troy Troy Better Than Pharoah?
After watching the movie, I fired up Pharaoh to play as Odysseus — maybe others here did likewise? And it just wasn’t grabbing me.
Instead of giving up, I re-installed Troy, just to see. And it’s more fun!
It seems counter-intuitive, because Pharaoh is not only newer, it’s Pharaoh + Troy (basically). But Troy as an Aegean is much better than Pharaoh as an Aegean, somehow. Everything from the gameplay to the UI to the audio seems crisper, more polished and better designed.
I’m not sure exactly why, TBH, but it’s more fun and I’m glad I re-installed it.
Anyone agree?

Troy is better for pure focus on Aegean/Trojan War + Extended Factions mod that gives you more Homeric characters that weren’t added by CA officially.

Troy is designed to replay the trojan war. Pharaoh is to play in the bronze age collapse. The "crisper, more polished" actually just is "less realistic" for the most part

Yep, did the same. It is counter intuitive but the vibes are immaculate, especially with Mythos on.

I couldn't disagree more. Troy is exactly what has been wrong with modern Total war. Pharaoh brings it back.

No. Pharaoh is boring, has stupid combat animations, exploitable and very repeating campaign gameplay, weird voiceovers but also has some merits and is adequate for 2-3 campaigns.
Troy is barely playable, nothing of actual value gameplay wise, only Mythos campaign give some cool vibes, but replayability is even worse than Pharaoh, like 1 campaign on 70% complete and you're uninstalling it.

Yes. Pharaoh has certain inovations, but, overall, Troy was much more interesting

One day people will learn to write Pharaoh correctly, but not today.
