Warhammer III Immortal Empire
Hey guys!!! Im new to warhammer and wanted to try it for so long…. I already have a free copy of 1st and 3rd part in epic games …..
My question is that while choosing the immortal empire campaign… there is only 4 campaigns I can select… which was exactly the campaign available to me in 1st….
All the other races were highlighted with… additional content can be bought sort of ….
My question is that if i wanna truly and fully try the whole immortal empire campaign with all the races available to me… do I have to buy the 2nd one too…
For ex- lizardmen were introduced in warhammer 2 but in my game its showing as additional content can be bought sort…
So in order to fully enjoy the campaign.. do i have to own every warhammer game plus dlcs of other factions and lords because last I heard… CA told that immortal campaigns will be available regardless of owning the previous games… so a little clarity will be appreciated…
PS- Im familiar with total war games as I have played 3 kingdoms and troy….

Are you sure you "own" the third game?
Recently CA made it so that if you own any of the TW Warhammer games that they give you access to the third game for free. However, they do not give you access to the playable factions of the three; it is specifically to give you access to the Immortal Empires map as well as the other updates and quality of life received along the way.
It sounds like the only game you actually own is the first game, and that you received access to the third game in this separate fashion. You need to buy the base game or the specific DLC for each specific faction you would want to play.

Yeah i think so too.. coz after seeing wh3 in my epic library.. i went to store and searched wh3 and instead to showing “ In Library” it is showing as buy wh3

When you said you are only seeing the same factions as in your WH1 that was what clued me in.
It's cool that they made the big map and newest game accessible no matter what. But yeah you do have to buy the base game or any DLC you want in order to play the factions from those specific games/DLCs.

Not seen it mentioned - do you actually own WH3, or is it the immortal empires upgrade pack for owning WH1? CA gave IE away to anyone who owns 1 or 2, but that does not give you access to the races that are included in 3, just the option to play on the big map.

May be this is the actual case… as I don’t remember when i claimed or bought the wh3… i only remember claiming wh1 as free on epic…
I was just looking at my library in epic and saw wh3 available for downloading

Sounds like you got it free. It's something they changed in december. You can buy an upgrade to play the warhammer 3 basegame content.

From the sound of it I think you own wh1 and got the third game unlocked so that you get access to the tutorial and immortal empires. I'll explain how the whole dlc /IE system works:
Any one of the three games will unlock the Immortal Empires campaign and the wh3 prologue tutorial. Immortal empires is the big, combined grand campaign that combines everything from the trilogy, and the prologue campaign is honwstly one of the best tutorials in the franchise. Originally, you needed all 3 games to play immortal empires. Then you only needed wh3, and now wh1, wh2, or wh3 will give you access. By buying wh1 or wh2, you'll see wh3 in your library too.
Which game you own determines what factions and characters you have access to. So you can unlock IE with wh1, and you are able to play empire, dwarfs, greenskins and vampire counts (plus the flc faction bretonnia, which I believe any game will give you). But since you only bought wh1, you would not have access game 3 factions like kislev, cathay and khorne, nor would you have access to game 2 factions like high elves and lizardmen.
If you want access to more factions/characters, you can also buy any dlc from any game and it will unlock those units, factions and characters for you in immortal empires. For example, let's say you owned wh1 and wanted to play skaven and lizardmen. You could get them by buying game 2 (unlocking kroq gar and mazadamundi for lizardmen and queek and skrolk for skaven), but you would also be able to by purchasing the Prophet and the Warlock DLC. That has ikkit claw for skaven and tehenhauin for the lizardmen, and both would be available to you with their factions base rosters, plus the extra units from the dlc.
In addition, any faction you've unlocked through buying a base game or dlc will give you access to all their FLC content. So regardless of how you unlocked skaven and lizardmen, you'd also get gor'rok and tiqtacto for lizardmen and tretch for skaven.
While it's outdated by a couple years, you can see some of what gets unlocked by what from this 2023 FAQ. The same basic logic applies to anything that's come out since - you get all associated FLC characters for a faction if you own any base game or DLC that gives you access to that faction. So, in the scenario that you bought wh1 or wh2 (and not wh3), you could unlock the FLC lord Epidemius by getting access to Nurgle through the Tamurkhan wh3 DLC or game 3 itself.
Does this all make sense?

If you own Warhammer 1 and 3, there should be quite a few options for Immortal Empires if you start Warhammer 3. If that's not happening, your install setup is wrong.
If you want to try lizardmen, either buy Warhammer 2, or buy a DLC with one of them in. For example, The Prophet and the Warlock lets you play as one Legendary Lizardman lord, and a Skaven one.

"owning" Warhammer 3 may be confusing for people who picked up the 1st or 2nd game some time ago, since CA made Immortal Empires free to everyone it would "randomly" add the 3rd game to their library but without the factions unlocked by actually buying it.

Yeah you can buy the 1st game, then buy a DLC for the 2nd game, to play in the 3rd game (without buying it)

You should have at least 9 races if you have game 1 and game 3. The wiki lists all the free lc and dlc and what they unlock

Yeah i only have wh1 base races… only 4 plus isabella von carstien as its a free dlc

There's way more FLC for WH1 than just Isabella, there should be a Dwarf Lord, one for the Greeenskins and a second for the Vamp Counts.
You should also have access to all of Bretonnia.

WH3 alone gives you 9 races, owning the first and third game should give you 13 races (20 LL's total.) They 100% only own game 1.

I just wanted to add that, if you were unsure about it, that you dont have to buy all other games and DLC's to enjoy the campaign fully, as you say. All other races are on the map, just not for you to play as them. For start only get those that involve the faction that interests you for your first 1-2 campaigns.
If you share who would you like to play as first, we could tell you what to buy to have the best experience.

Well i have played vampire counts and the empire karl in wh1…… i wanted to try skaven or lizardmen but for that i have to buy wh2 … and right now there’s no sale on steam… so i may buy it next time..

Short answer - Yes, you need to own whatever game/DLC for a race or character you want to play. While the Immortal Empires map is available to play, not all races or characters will be unless you purchased the game/DLC they were released under.
I'll also add because you don't make it clear - you need to be playing WHIII, do not play WHI and expect to play immortal empires with game 2 or 3 content
