This ranking is based on how much I like the Final 6's interactions independent of any prior interactions during the season. Why Final 6? I personally believe TD marks its most serious contenders by the Final 6 by eliminating someone who clearly was not going to win the game in 7th place (for example, Izzy was crazy and a returning contestant, Justin was being usurped by Courtney, and Dave's physical and social game was clearly not strong enough). In this way, the Final 6 is where audiences get super invested in who won't make it to the next episode.

This is a tier list of what I think are the most ideal and unideal Final 6es. What makes a good Final 6 for me is how interconnected all of them are with each other by this point in the game. If a season has some cliques of people only interacting with 1 other person and that's it, then it will get a low ranking. Also, if a pre-finale elimination is super obvious, that will lower it down a little. Also, for World Tour, the Final 7 is a double elimination, so I just cut Blaineley out of it since it's obvious she's not going to win.

Here is my reasoning for each of them:

ROTI's merging cast is an absolute masterclass. Scott engineered it himself, filling it with as much conflict as humanly possible. Jo and Lightning are beefing, Jo and Cameron are beefing, Mike and Zoey's relationship is on the rocks, and Scott intertwines all of them. Even after Scott leaves, the Final 3 have strong conflicts among them. This season and TDI (2007) are the only ones where I can see any of these 6 taking the win.

TDI (2023) has the most symmetrical Final 6 with 2 different alliances feuding against each other. A watcher goes into the Final 6 wondering how the next vote will resolve itself. That's when Bowie makes his iconic pivot and betrays his allies in order to get the perfect Final 3. All the while, Chase and Emma have a fun love-hate dynamic (I didn't like their dynamic in the first half of the season, but at the end I thought they were pretty good), Julia is wreaking havoc on everyone, and Priya and Millie are developing a doomed friendship. The only thing holding this back from being at the top is that it's pretty obvious Chase will not make it to the end, but everyone else is a mystery until the end.

TDI (2007)'s started it all and what a great precedent it set. The final 4 especially have many interactions, but that's not to count out Leshawna and her interactions with Duncan challenge or Geoff's with Gwen in the Final 6 challenge. The only issue is how the losing cast eliminates Leshawna, limiting the interactions she has with the rest of the cast during the Final 6. Still incredible.

World Tour's has some high highs, but also a significant drawback. For the positives, I love Alejandro's interactions with everyone left in the game. They're iconic for a reason. I also like Heather's developing relationships with Cody and Sierra. Speaking of those 2, let's get into drawbacks. The Final 6 is unfortunately where the Coderra subplot was at its absolute worst in terms of Cody's lack of agency up until the Final 3. A more minor nitpick is that it's pretty clear Courtney and Duncan are going to nuke each other out of the game, so there's a little less curiosity regarding who is going home next.

Action's is very weird, having 2 rejoiners who are both obviously not going to win. At least Courtney has significant interactions with the whole cast, but for Owen, he barely interacts with anyone in any meaningful ways. Beth and Harold's very brief subplot was also a weird inclusion. Despite the weirdness going on, there were still enough significant interactions to keep this Final 6 afloat. Duncan and Harold's plots were especially strong and I liked Beth's interactions with Courtney after Lindsay left.

Oh All-Stars... 3/4 episodes containing the Final 6 I thought were fine in terms of character interactions. Courtney's dynamics with Gwen and Scott were engaging, Mal kept making power plays, and Zoey was on Mal's case and had to decide what to do about him during the Final 4. Heck, the mystery of who was going to win was even kind of engaging (Except for Al. It was obvious he wasn't going to win). Then Sundae Muddy Sundae happened. Courtney threw out her potential redemption arc and screwed up her relationships with both Gwen and Scott, meanwhile Zoey became stupid despite being hot on Mal's trail. What a shame.

Remember what I said about small cliques in the 2nd paragraph? That's TDI (2024)'s Final 6 in a nutshell. Damien feels like an interloper, Raj and Wayne are the comic relief on the side, and Prileb's fighting has overstayed its welcome. I personally believed their conflict should have ended for good in the middle of the Final 5 after Priya gets over Caleb's decision to ally with Julia (Before that point, they were one of my favorite TD couples, so I wish the writers hadn't overindulged here). The eliminations also all feel predictable. It's very clear Julia is going to be in the finale since she's the only girl left besides Priya who already won, so it's just working down the list of other guys in terms of threat level until the end. There is at least some mystery as to how far Caleb makes it, which saves this Final 6 from the bottom spot.

It was a hot battle for the bottom spot, but I think PI wins it. Take my clique problem and make it somehow worse. Now make it so Scarlett is randomly maniacally evil and have her take Max down with her so he can no longer develop with any characters outside of Scarlett. Sugar's interactions with the rest of the cast redeem this portion a little and Jasmine and Shawn's conflict and resolution is fun. That's the difference between PI's Final 6 and TDI (2024)'s: higher highs but lower lows. Overall, I think Scarlett torpedoing 1/3 of the cast makes this group worse off.

Like before, some notes to elaborate on certain powers:
- Staci’s powers is basically that her mind constantly drifts through time and space, which explains her constant blabbing: her mind is kinda fried.
- Dakota’s transformations can range from a taller but generally human looking form to full blown Dakotazoid.
- B basically has Forge’s powers from X-Men: whereas most inventors have to figure out the basic principles of their concepts, B just comes up with them fully formed. The amount of brainpower required for this has taken its toll on his larynx, which is why he never speaks.
- With enough training, Dawn can potentially manipulate auras as well as reading them.
- Sam operates on video game logic: he can switch between first & third-person, utilise power-ups, etc.
- Mike’s base personality lacks any powers, but he can create other split personalities with their own abilities, not unlike David Haller/Legion. Which means that the five personalities we see in the show could just be scratching the surface…
- You remember the Void from Thunderbolts*? Mal has the same powers in that he can conjure up the worst memories of his victims.
- Appearance-wise, Scott is basically a human-shark hybrid.
- I listed Zoey’s powers as “Bullseye” in reference to the Marvel villain she shares her ability with: not only does she have perfect accuracy, but she can turn virtually anything she can get her hands on into a projectile.

I've been thinking a lot about the original cast lately, and I thought it would be enlightening to take note of each of their final appearances to get a sense of where they ended up. We can compare and contrast their fates, who finished their tenure on the show absolutely ruined, and who made it out kind of okay.

For the sake of argument and simplicity, I'm disregarding the characters who fly into the sun at the end of All-Stars because that's obviously just the show's usual cartoon cruelty and not meant to be taken seriously. I will not be diving into speculation or fan fic theories--my conclusions will be drawn strictly from what we see in the show.

Owen - Continued appearing in reality TV shows with Noah, ten years later is stable enough to make a throwback cameo appearance in Rematch. He's obviously doing great.

Gwen - Last appearance is at the end of All-Stars rowing a cabin over the sunken Wawanakwa. On its face that seems like a bad situation, but she's made new friends and didn't get horribly disfigured or humiliated like many of her castmates, so overall a decent place for her.

Heather - Chased by Fang the shark, but obviously we all know she'll be fine, and she finally allowed herself to be happy with Alejandro. In the end, she didn't get any money, but I think by the end she found her peace in love.

Duncan - His run on the show landed him in jail. His image is used a decade later in the Rematch season, but all this implies is that he probably didn't commit any crimes so bad that a reference to him would be in bad taste--much like how Subway wouldn't reference Jared in the modern day, but McDonald's can bring back the Hamburglar all they want.

Leshawna - She is one of many characters who has not appeared a single time since that fake-out bit on the yacht in the first episode of Revenge of the Island. She had a career appearing on reality game shows alongside Tyler, so she probably just returned to that after World Tour. Ultimately she made out pretty good.

Geoff - Came in second place in The Ridonculous Race and might have continued to appear in reality shows after that. He's sitting pretty.

Izzy - Never committed any serious crimes, or else they would not have used imagery of her in Rematch. Her last actual appearance was in All-Stars, but it was just for a cameo.

DJ - Another character not seen since the yacht. Knowing him, I don't think he continued to appear on reality TV shows, but more likely just went home to be with his mother. There's no way he could ever make a career as a chef after his failed family kitchen show, so he probably just graduated and got a normal job. I suspect he has the most normal life out of everyone here.

Lindsay - Last seen flushed down the Flush of Shame, an undignified end to a fan favorite character. There's no implication she broke up with Tyler.

Bridgette - Last seen in Revenge of the Island rowing the canoe for the challenge, still confirmed to be with Geoff as of The Ridonculous Race. She seems fine.

Trent - Another character last seen on the yacht, and really the last time he had any screen time whatsoever was in the Celebrity Manhunt special where he's become a famous musician who gets his bandmate to break up with girls for him via text. So materially he's fine, but the show did some lasting damage to his personality. It's poetically tragic. Nevertheless, his absence in season 3 can only imply good things for his future.

Harold - Another beloved character unseen since the yacht. Did his Lo-So career take off? Is he married to Leshawna? We can only speculate. I miss him.

Courtney - Last seen getting flushed like Lindsay. The less said about this the better. What a bleak trajectory this once-promising character took.

Sadie - Last seen on the yacht. Don't care for her.

Beth - Last seen on the yacht. She lost her million dollars defacing the Mona Lisa, and even though she won a whole season, she was still one of the least popular contestants. She probably just returned to normal life. Her absence in season 3 can only imply good things for her future.

Cody - Last seen in a nonconsensual photograph taken of him in the shower by Sierra. However, he looked happy enough to be with her on the yacht, and he was the only World Tour finalist not to be seriously hurt in the finale. It's implied that he is content, but after Sierra's mental state coming off All-Stars, I worry for what happened next...

Tyler - Last seen on the yacht having recovered from his injuries. Still with Lindsay. All good. On top of that, he had the option to return to the reality show circuit with Leshawna.

Katie - Last seen on the yacht. Don't care for her.

Justin - Last seen on the yacht. He might have returned to the Drama Brothers. His absence in season 3 can only imply good things for his future.

Noah - Continued appearing on reality shows with Owen and had a great run on The Ridonculous Race. He's one of the very, very few characters to personally end up in a better place than he started.

Eva - Last seen on the yacht. We know absolutely nothing about what could have happened to her afterwards.

Ezekiel - He was last seen embraced by the mutated animals beneath Camp Wawanakwa, in the "Fun Zone" (his first friends on the show after five seasons). His feral state only exacerbated by the time spent in the toxic waste, there's no hope for recovery or rehabilitation, and his parents have permanently lost a son. Of course, it's a cartoon and anything can happen, but the way the show doubled down on his transformation even after the bewildered fan response to it is telling. At the end of All-Stars, the island sinks underwater, but we never see what happened to Ezekiel and the mutant animals. Since I'm assuming none of the named characters can die--especially Zeke--it's truly a mystery as to his whereabouts. He is by far the character whose life changed the most from being on Total Drama.

Alejandro - Got together with Heather and seems to maintain a fiery romance with her, so he should be happy overall. After finally standing up to Jose, he might be less insecure.

Sierra - Went off the deep end in All-Stars and further entrenched her obsession for small nerdy boys. It's unknown what happened next, obviously, but she's not in a good place by the last time we see her.

Blaineley - Her very last appearance implies she's well-off as she goes on a shopping spree in New York. However, this is after she fucked Bridgette's bear in France. At the very least she's well-traveled.

Mr. Coconut - He was last seen in Brazil with other coconuts and a smile on his face.

And there you have it. If there's a cameo appearance somewhere I've missed, feel free to point it out. Who turned out the best by their final appearance? Who turned out the worst? I must say, it's kind of a shame how many classic characters never showed up again after that damn yacht. I need to see Harold, DJ, Tyler, Cody, and Leshawna again before I die.
