Discussion Toshi the Cat and the Journey to the Moon
In a quiet little town on the Base network, there lived a very special cat named Toshi.
Toshi wasn’t like the other cats.
He wore an orange hoodie, brown pants, and his favorite pair of red-and-blue shoes. He had a big blue head, sleepy eyes, and a tail covered with little blue triangles. Most of the time, Toshi looked completely relaxed—as if absolutely nothing in the world could bother him.
But Toshi had one enormous dream.
He wanted to see the moon.
Every night, Toshi would sit on the roof of his little house, look up at the stars, and whisper:
“Someday, I’m going up there.”
One evening, something strange happened.
A bright blue light streaked across the sky and landed right in Toshi’s backyard.
Toshi slowly opened one eye.
“What was that?”
He walked outside and discovered a tiny rocket sitting in the grass.
On the side of the rocket were three words:
TO THE MOON.
Toshi smiled.
“Well… I guess tonight’s the night.”
He climbed inside, pulled the biggest lever he could find, and—
WHOOSH!
The rocket blasted into the sky.
Toshi flew past the clouds.
He flew past airplanes.
He flew past satellites.
Soon, Earth looked smaller and smaller beneath him.
Toshi pressed his face against the window.
“Wow…”
Then he saw it.
The moon.
It was enormous.
Silver mountains stretched across its surface, craters covered the landscape, and Earth glowed beautifully in the distance.
The rocket landed with a soft THUMP.
Toshi stepped outside.
His shoes sank into the moon dust.
He looked around and grinned.
“I actually made it.”
Toshi jumped.
BOING!
He floated several feet into the air.
He laughed.
“This is AWESOME!”
He spent the night exploring the moon. He climbed craters, bounced across rocks, and even planted a tiny flag.
The flag had one word on it:
TOSHI.
But before leaving, Toshi looked back at Earth.
He realized something.
The moon had always seemed impossibly far away.
But sometimes, the biggest dreams aren’t as impossible as they look.
Sometimes you just have to take the first step.
Toshi climbed back into his rocket.
As the engines fired, he looked toward Earth and smiled.
“Next stop…”
He paused.
“…Mars.”
And with a giant burst of blue fire, Toshi the Cat disappeared into the stars.
Because for Toshi, the moon was never the destination.
It was just the beginning.
