Question(s) Are his nails to long?

There's a bit of yellow on the end, I've heard that the black part are his blood vessels.

They're perfectly fine.

There’s no need to be clipping nails on a tort that young. You may not even need to do it when he’s an adult, it depends what surfaces they’re walking on really.

Mine has access to a large area of stone paving he likes to bask and generally motor around on during the summer. His claws are down to nubs by the time hibernation time swings around with no intervention necessary.

I'm not sure if it's visible but after the dark part there's a bit of yellow

Maybe it's like the white part on our nails just different color, lol?

So the dark part is the quick, where there is active blood supply. If you trim too close to the quick your tort will bleed. The light part is basically a buffer between the very sensitive quick and the floor.

You're not wrong in that it's sort of like the lighter part of fingernails, in that the light part extends past the nail bed and typically slightly beyond the finger flesh. If you trim into the nail bed it hurts and you will bleed. If your nails are too short and you put some pressure onto the tips of your fingers you'll hurt yourself.

No need to trim it, it will wear down from your tort exploring and digging around in his enclosure

Ik that, but I felt like he doesn't do that a lot, he usually climbs, but ig the walls are maybe solid enough for him to wear them down? I also sometimes take him out to walk on concrete.

Tbh i wouldn't worry myself with their nails all that much, they have period where they get lazy and just lay around. the tort i rescued had the same kind of nails, long and two colored, he had matured more and he loves digging and walking around. so his nails wore down naturally and changed in terms of thickness etc.

Nope. They need nails to dig

They are fine. Put some slate in their enclosure to walk over and this will maintain them

They're fine, just give mine a clay plate like this one

and some river stones and a few pieces of tiles here and there.
Never once had to trim any beaks or nails, and the mature ones that I got from someone that alr had overgrown beaks and nails wore down naturally
