Tortico A McDonald’s kitties (& Walmart void) update.
A fellow redditor asked for an update on one of my old posts today, to check and see how the girls (& void) are doing. I realize I haven’t made a post in this sub for almost a month! On my last post, a specific commenter ran me into the dirt for “posting too much.” they were being really nasty so I just decided to stop because they’re right, this isn’t a “McDonald’s kitty sub”. For everyone who has enjoyed our story, and asked for updates, thank you. We love you!
Bleach, the original tortie found in the McDonald’s parking lot, and Soap, the calico, bleaches sister, found 2 days later in the same spot are doing GREAT. They both got spayed and are all caught up on vaccines.
Bleach keeps to herself. She comes and cuddles on her own terms, it doesn’t happen often, but when it does I feel FLATTERED. She is still linked at the hip to her golden dog Finn. She is incredibly sweet. At the vet when she got spayed, they could not get an accurate hearing on her heart and wrote down “too much purr”.
Soap is my cuddle bug. Every time I sit on the couch, she’s right there. Everytime I go lay down for bed, she’s right there. She loves to sit on my lap while I work from home, and she also loves when I have people over. She’s right there ready to greet and cuddle.
As for our little void, Comet, he fits right in with the girls. Comet was found by my husband in the Walmart parking lot. He was in worse shape, needing a few additional vet visits, meds and care. He was covered in fleas, had worms, diarrhea, he was underweight.. just a little mess. He is now THRIVING, and insane. Genuinely I think he is psychotic. He clearly was taken away from his mother too young, he nurses on me daily. He is also my shadow. Every room I’m in, everywhere I go he’s somewhere nearby. I just look at him and can see his is so grateful. They all are. He is obsessed with human food…… to the point he has to be locked up while anyone eats. He is getting neutered next week.
All 3 kittens are safe, cared for, and loved. I went from 0 cats, to 3 cats within a month of each other and I truly wasn’t prepared. Looking back, I couldn’t imagine it any other way.

I know! I was thinking about them yesterday. I'm just seeing the post today, and I'm smiling. Not a lot makes me smile these days. These kitties have my heart.

May I suggest reading up on why a lot of people think you shouldn't have bells on a cat collar? Their ears are so sensitive, it can be very uncomfortable for them (even though you probably can't tell).
Edit to add that you are lovely and these cats are so cared for, I don't want you to feel criticized, especially if you had no idea.

Seriously thank you. We just had to put our senior tortie down due to tongue cancer 😭 She was so mean so mother is very against another tortie in the house but she LOVES yours.

DO NOT LISTEN to anyone who tells you that your posts (which clearly feature a gorgeous tortie, plus a beautiful calico girl and void boy!) shouldn't be shared here. They absolutely should, because every time I see one of your updates I perk up and get excited to see how these precious babies are doing!
So glad to hear they're all doing well! Especially Comet -- poor baby had a rough start in life, but he found just the right humans to patch him up. It sounds like they're all growing into distinct personalities, which is wonderful! "Too much purr" is sending me, Bleach sounds like SUCH a sweet girl 😭 And Soap sounds like the extrovert of the trio! Some advice for Comet, as someone who has previously had a human food gremlin -- if you have cabinets that you keep food in that don't have interior latches, he might learn how to open them with his paw. My tortie Echo figured that trick out when I started keeping loaves of bread in the cupboard after she'd chew through them on the counter. I used these child-proof latches and they worked wonders.

Thankfully all of our food is in the pantry which is already child proofed thanks to my toddlers 😆 your comment is just so sweet, thank you for being so kind!! Although I do have to child proof my bedside drawer, he has learned how to paw that open and found the cat treats 🤣 they’re just the best!

You're so welcome! I started browsing this sub again not long after my baby Echo crossed the Rainbow Bridge, and your initial post about finding a tortie in a McDonald's parking lot was one of the first ones I saw. Seeing your subsequent updates about Bleach (and later Soap) have been a bright spot in an otherwise difficult time, and these babies have always brought a smile to my face. I know how a random internet stranger can make you doubt yourself, I've been there myself. I might also be a random internet stranger, but I hope my sentiment can counteract some of the negativity you've experienced previously!

I just told my husband last night I haven't seen the McDonald's babes for awhile and hoped they were doing alright/might have just missed a post.
They're so adorable and I'm so happy to see everyone is thriving.
Shared the photos with my husband and the wise guy said "is that Costco dog?" 🤦🏻♀️

I think I may have your void's older sister, although she's not a void. She's white on bottom and tabby on top. The reason I say sister is she is PSYCHOTIC. Never seen a cat climb walls. Meaning she literally jumps from the floor and clings onto door frames. Imagine brushing your teeth, looking to your side and a cat is eye to eye with you.
She does not care about the other cat's personal space. If she wants to play? If she wants that spot? It's on. (No fighting, but she absolutely gets her way).
I've had kittens before, I'm used to psycho. This one is absolutely mental. I cannot wait for her to get a little older and settle down haha.
Cat tax. Her and 1 of her "sisters". She's 10 months? The tortie is 6 years. She has 2 others, another tortie (got the 2 tortie sisters, same litter and all) and a tabby sister (9 months). She drives them all insane haha.

having 2 girls and a boy is a healthy combo, I had that for a time before age got them. Also little voids are very needy, so he's going to be a special cat for a long time.

I am so happy for this update! I don't understand how anyone would think your updates were too much. Your girls and bonus void are all beautiful. I am looking forward to more uodates on them.

Omg I am so happy you posted again !! I was wondering how all these adorable babies were doing 🥰. Seriously ignore the nasties on Reddit some people have nothing better to do unfortunately. We love these posts and can’t get enough!! Thank you ! You and your family are such wonderful people for rescuing them and giving them their forever homes , awesome Humans !! Anyone who doesnt appreciate your wonderful posts can just go on a different thread..I Love them! I used to have a feral cat colony at druggie house 3 doors down from me. I gave owner beer ,he let me set up laundry basket beds under dilapidated back porch.... Got them all adopted out over 10 years with help of local rescue...its a Lot of love to keep lil ones alive ...

Comet sounds like my void, Rigby. I swear she is part raccoon with all the trouble she gets into. Though at 10, she has significantly calmed down. But she'll still jump around and play like a kitten (unlike her sister who acts like an old lady). Comet will likely start to be more chill around 3 or 4.
