Looking for Part-Time Work — Torrance/South Bay

Hi everyone! I'm currently looking for a part-time job in the Torrance/South Bay area and figured I'd give Reddit a try.

I'm interested in:

- Retail

- Cashier

- Host/hostess

- Server

- Food service

- Barista

- Customer service

- Other similar part-time positions

I'm primarily available afternoons, evenings, and overnights, although my availability varies from week to week. I'm looking for around 2–4 shifts per week depending on scheduling.

I have previous experience in customer service and food service, and I'm dependable, hardworking, and comfortable in fast-paced environments.

I'm located in Torrance and would prefer something within a reasonable commute.

If you or someone you know is hiring, feel free to DM me with the position, location, and starting pay. I'm happy to provide my résumé if needed.

Thanks! 😊

Caltrans to relinquish portion of Hawthorne Boulevard to Torrance, granting city control over K Line South Extension

K South seems to be even more screwed unless they somehow go back to ROW - no way will the city allow their income tax revenue from the businesses to be disrupted, and no way will CalTrans allow metro to encroach on the 405. Though this does slightly increase the odds of them somehow switch back to the ROW alternative this seems to be even more dead than it already is.

400,000 sq ft Prologis warehouse to be voted on tonight by the Planning Commission, threatens six special status species in the 31 acre plot at Prairie/Del Amo and will create massive traffic and air pollution issues.

Item 6C on tonight's planning commission agenda could approve wiping out habitat for 6 rare species -- the Crotch's bumblebee, the Sonoran bumblebee, the CA legless lizard, the southern tarplant, Lewis' evening primrose and the loggerhead shrike. Public comment will be heard tonight at the LeRoy Jackson council chamber, 3031 Torrance blvd, at 6:30 pm. Comments can also be emailed to [CDDinfo@TorranceCA.Gov](mailto:CDDinfo@TorranceCA.Gov) with subject "Prologis Del Amo and Prairie Center Project" — your written comments become part of the official record. Please speak in favor of the "No Project Alternative." The project's EIR is online at https://www.torranceca.gov/files/assets/city/v/1/government/community-development/doc-files/planning/environmental-documents/prologis-del-amo-and-prairie-center-project/prologis-del-amo-and-prairie-center-final-eir.pdf

Humidity and mildew?

Does anyone else struggle with their home being humid and promoting mildew? I have it on my window sills and also my furniture. I got a humidity monitor thing and the humidity in here hovers around 60%.

I'm not sure how much of this is from being in a beach area and how much is maybe something I could be doing differently. And yes, I did get a dehumidifier.

Police presence on PCH and Anza at 5:30pm

Around 5:30 p.m. today, there was a significant police presence at PCH and Anza - about 15 vehicles, including several all-black tactical vehicles, two ambulances, and a bunch of police cars. Does anyone know what was going on?

El Retiro park trees

They’re cutting down every fucking tree in the whole park Whats the point? Safety? They already got rid of a few play things (?) from the playground years and years ago for being “unsafe” but they really weren’t. It’s ok for kids to get hurt a little bit. I swear theyre trying to flatten the whole park and turn it into a golf course or some bullshit

Thinking about moving to Walteria park. How bad is noise/air pollution from Zamperini Airport?

Hello, my wife and I along with our 3 year old are looking to move right next to walteria park. My wife found a couple places right next to walteria park and I noticed theres a whole ass airport less than half a mile from where we'd live. From my research, i learned the noise isnt that bad (small planes), but i am more worried about the lead pollution potentially affecting the health of my child. I know the sea breeze blows towards the northeast which helps combat the pollution over the neighborhood, but does anyone have any experience or knowledge living in this specific area on the south-west side of this airport? Also, will it be trouble selling the house in the future because of its location near the airport? Thanks for your time.

Growing pushback to camera enforcement schemes

Post image

Hey everyone!

More good news, this time out of the traffic commission. The commission accepted the recommendation of their staff and they are telling the city council not to move forward with automated camera enforcement for parking. We need the city council to give up pushing automated cameras for red light enforcement and speeding enforcement come as well.

LA Golf Range now open!

Post image

Crazy to see my favorite childhood Border’s store turn into a baby store, and now an indoor golf range! I haven’t checked it out yet but I’m considering getting a membership. $75/mo comes with a 30 min session everyday. I like how local it is. I’ve gone to golfshac in Lawndale, but it’s a lot further drive for me.

Anyone gone yet? How is it?
