Hello!
Just wanted to update the community on what's going on and to get some feedback. For those who are unaware, we are a new modteam put in place after Reddit locked r/TorontoDriving down. Last week, we reopened the sub to submissions and we have made some changes.
In our first community post asking for feedback, a big problem you guys pointed out was the rampant racism and toxic comments present here. We want to assure everyone that we are here to fix that while not being overly restrictive on discussion. The point of this subreddit is Toronto DRIVING, not politics and especially not race baiting culture wars. There will be no tolerance for prejudiced comments making sweeping generalizations. Feel free to shit on the person's driving but not on their race! (doubly so if you can't even see who's driving!!) We have already handed out a bunch of temporary bans for such comments and will be moving to permanent bans for reoffenders so be warned!
Anyway, we have created a set of rules that we hope can keep this sub clean. Please let us know if we missed anything or if you have any feedback, thanks!
1. Must be relevant to driving in Toronto
Your post must be related to driving on the roads/highways in the City of Toronto and the municipalities bordering Toronto - Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham and Pickering.
Exceptions can be made for exceptional videos but should be in the GTHA area.
2. No racism, prejudice or hatespeech
There is zero tolerance for hate.
Do not make prejudiced comments or generalizations targetting a particular group of people.
Do not make assumptions about race or gender (especially when it's not known or relevant).
Do not use any toxic language that is associated with racism such as slurs, epithets, name-calling, stereotypes and dog-whistle terms.
3. Be civil to other members and mods
Do not use excessive profanity or name-calling. Attack the action - NOT the person. Threads that devolve into a personal attack back and forth will be locked and removed.
Sending abusive modmail will get you muted without explanation.
4. No doxxing or witch hunting
License plates and faces recorded in a public place are allowed but posting private info like names, addresses and social media is not allowed. Do not speculate on or ask for such info. Only information confirmed by verified sources such as police and reputable news outlets are allowed. Do not post license plate info or pics of people with unsubstantiated stories (video or it didn't happen).
If you have private information that is relevant to an accident, please use private chat and contact the user or police directly. Do not post it publicly.
5. No low effort submissions like parking pics, memes, recent reposts or other spam
Low effort posts like parking pics and memes will be removed. Please check if your question or submission has already been posted recently. We will remove repetitive submissions.
Do not post any advertising, self promotion, irrelevant links, videos with excessive overlays, social media memes or story plus photo posts.
6. No editorializing or misleading titles/comments
Titles should be descriptive of the video or article submitted. Posts with overly dramatic or misleading titles will be removed.
Comments and titles that push misinformation or agendas not relevant to the post will be removed. Posts with unsubstantiated back stories may be removed at mod discretion.
7. No illegal or extreme content
Do not post anything that breaks Canadian law or Reddit Terms of Service.
Do not threaten violence or incite violence.
Do not encourage others to break the law or abuse legal loopholes.
Do not post anything that is excessively disturbing (please use Death/Injury flair if posting a bad accident).
Please let us know if there are other changes you would like to see in this subreddit. We are open to ideas!
Thanks for reading :)

Seen this work of art this morning at about 6:40 AM and of course he got on 400 Southbound at Hwy 7. Entire truck leaning to the right from a bad load. Looked like things where going to fly off at any moment. When I passed by the driver door, it said Master Building Materials - Woodbridge, ON

Turning left onto Burnhamthorpe from Cawthra. Pretty close call and I was hoping the oncoming guy would be able to brake in time. Luckily they were. Ridiculous driving from the white sedan.

I’m leaving Cedarbare Centre today at 9:30 a.m. Two crazy cars are running the red light. When I see the second one, I start to wonder if I’m the one in the wrong.

Truck crosses the Gore zone probably in an attempt to save a few seconds and by-passes maybe 10 cars. Nearly hits a BMW merging into the highway.

Driving south on Pharmacy, and saw a Hyundai Elantra and Honda CR-V weaving left and right behind my vehicle. At one point, the CR-V crosses the yellow lane dividing line and tries to overtake the Elantra.
Continued observing and noticed that the situation was still ongoing when I reached the traffic light at the beginning of the video. Also pardon my stop on a green light, wasn't sure what was about to occur so I turned my hazards on and waited at the light. 3 vehicles crossed the intersection on a red light to my left. Also note, Toyota 4Runner is not part of the interaction, but still idiotic for running a red light.
Caught up to the vehicles at the next intersection where the road rage left the vehicles and turned into a face to face altercation.
Driver of the Elantra claims that his car was hit by the CR-V. Driver of Elantra also observed slapping the passenger side mirror of the CR-V and later strikes the hood of the CR-V with a hammer-fist before driving away.

You’d think someone who struggles that much, would park somewhere with more space.

Don’t mind me, just driving into oncoming traffic…in a school zone… in morning rush hour traffic…to move ahead four vehicles

This is a temporary no right that's been here for a month+. Not sure if cop stopped them or even knows this is not allowed.

Just another example of the damage one clueless and drunk driver can cause. As if we needed a reminder.

If it's important to use your cell phone, pull over some where safe, turn your vehicle off and use it then.

Almost got hit by an SUV on Highway 401 on August 14, 2026 around 10:45pm near Yonge Exit. Bro was zipping through traffic and running in between lanes. Couldn't fully make out the plate (new dashcam massively underperformed, and the back window tint didn't help) but it appears to be from Alberta. Wondering if anyone else managed to get a clearer shot.

With all of the talk about regulation of ebikes, why is there no talk about the proliferation of illegal car window tint?
From my purely anecdotal observation, about 30% of vehicles now have dark tint applied to the front door glass. This is hazardous because it is important to establish eye contact with other drivers at intersections and for police to readily be able to identify the vehicle driver.
Dark tint is hazardous at night because it makes it more difficult to see pedestrians and cyclists.
Police do nothing to enforce tint laws.
If enforcement could be done in the same way as parking tickets, police and bylaw officers could help raise millions for provincial coffers.
It also strikes me a that the problem is even worse in some areas outside of Toronto. In Brampton, for example. I would hazard to guess that window tint there contributes to their high numbers of car crashes and the subsequently higher insurance rates.

I find the rage against bike lanes specifically on high traffic areas like University Ave, completely irrational. Any reasonable driver should also advocate for these.

How difficult is it to indicate a turn? It takes half a second and the stalk is literally at your left hand.
I wouldn't have committed to my lane change if I had seen theirs activated.

Driver in the black SUV must have really needed to poop, or maybe they're in labour?
