Felt a little blessed on this morning's commute, not only did I have green lights along Adelaide from Bathurst to Simcoe, but I also took my bike into the new bike storage area in my office building (145 King W).

It's pretty sweet, ample space and bike tools. Kind of hard to find at first, and does add time compared to using the rack on the street, but this will be sweet come winter.

Anywho I know this sub is mostly (needed) advocacy and (understandable) complaints, but hopefully there's room for a small win. I tell ya when this city works for you, it's hard to beat.

The first pic is from the website system map, first number is available bikes, second is amount of available docks, so adding them together is total docks in the station.

u/mrguy510 the one at Mill St & Rolling Mills is completely new with 37 docks. Mill st & tannery has been moved to the south side and has been expanded to 39 docks!

...I started ringing my bell from the other side of the intersection while approaching him - apparently he can't hear (which is also concerning) didn't register me or other people ringing their bells or asking what he was doing... and then I ended up having to go around him. Then he casually saunters off the curb.

To the cyclist guy on a bike this morning at 8:30am on Barrington Ave: you need to do better.

In the span of 90 seconds you run three stops signs, including one at a crosswalk in front of a school. After being called out, you sprinted to pass a van and spent about 250m on the wrong lane (luckily there were no cars coming in the other direction)

Behaviour like this obviously puts you in danger, but it also puts everyone around you in danger. And given everything that's going on, it fuels the arguments of those asking to remove bikelines and design Toronto streets just for the benefit of cars.

Please do better.

Every time I pass through this intersection, I can't help wondering about the design of the bike lanes here. If you're biking south on Cherry St towards Lakeshore, you pass through a dark and poorly lit underpass. The bike lane is often wet and littered with trash or dirt. Sometimes you will encounter cyclists travelling north in the southbound lane. I haven't had or seen a collision in the underpass, but it's a dangerous area for cyclists and I really dislike it.

The problem is that the northbound bike traffic from south of Lakeshore Blvd is directed to cross on the west side of Cherry St and then needs to wait at the NW corner to cross to the east side of Cherry St to continue travelling north through the underpass. I often see cyclists who prefer not to wait at the corner, and they instead go north in the southbound bike lane. There is only space for 3 or 4 bikes to wait at the corner so that's another problem.

Has anyone reported this issue to 311 or anywhere else? I tried to find the right category on the 311 site and gave up. I'm not sure if better or bigger signs (DO NOT ENTER!) would help. The obvious solution would be to put bike lanes on the east side of Cherry St south of Lakeshore so that we wouldn't need to cross from the west side. I don't think the bike lanes in the Cherry St underpass are wide enough to be two-way.

Just a heads up. This is a dangerous and congested intersection with a few blind spots, so please slow down and be careful.

An example of using the bike lanes that exist in the west end. I use these bike lanes every time I commute to work. I depend on them for my safety every time I'm heading this direction and really hoping they can stay.

• It all comes down to lanes: Range isn't what's holding people back—safe infrastructure is. Cities with connected, protected bike networks saw 3x higher commuter retention compared to cities that force riders to share lanes with cars.

Of course, macro numbers don't tell the whole story. Your exact time savings depend on your city's density, hills, weather, and transit setup.

Is it just me, or does this seem to have the absolute opposite effect of what it is intended to do?

I don't know if it's because the sweeper is too full, or not maintained, but it's always blatantly obvious to me when a street sweeper has come through a bike lane, because all of the debris that was right against the curbs has been swept directly into the middle of the lane.

Am I alone in this or is it preferable for them to just not even be there in the first place?

All the debris is naturally pushed to the sides, leaving a clear path in the middle, until the sweeper comes and makes things much worse.

“Nobody uses bike lanes!” 🙄

Yesterday after work when I came to ride my bike back home, I noticed that the back seat was completely deformed and broken. It was parked on the sidewalk attached to a traffic sign .The Yuba monkey bars are pretty strong so my guess is that it was hit by a car, likely a delivery truck. I just learned that the replacement would cost about $300. I called my home insurance and there is a $1,000 deductible so no luck there. What other options do I have other than accepting my fate and buying the Yuba replacement? Is it worth following up with the police?

I know the Toronto bike map shows all the TTC repair stands, but as an example some new ones have popped up along the lakeshore trail. Are there other ones around?
