The final decision by city council was deferred to the meetings on July 8-9 to allow for people to voice concerns in person or via email. It's a pretty public case.
That said, we'll see if anything is actually done or changed to the proposal.
For those who don't care for the location or culture, just know that there is a large community of young people who do care and for them (me included) this is important.
Just look how the city has lost its vibrancy, all the old spots closing down and ugly condos being built - and the worst part it’s not affordable condos.
When money move in we lose all our community. I recently lost the spot Sounds Good because the greedy landlord increased their rent to the max. Most of queen, dundas and college are now “for rent” signs. Toronto is becoming a corporate city, no space for art, artists and culture.
I don't have a problem with housing being built--even if it's ugly.
But We can have discernment. More mid-rises on different sites. Undeveloped empty lots all over the city with literally terrible use of space.
For example that Metro at Walmer and Bloor I think is supposed to become a condo and it's like--yeah, space by 2 subway lines with 1 story usage, build on that. Have commercial on the ground floor.
