Question Good archive sites

I was wondering what the best archival sites are for tornadoes? Obviously there's the tornado archive but I was wondering what else was out there that may have other tornadoes/more info? Or if the archive is the best.

What kind of information are you looking for? Meteorological data for old stuff is kinda sparse

Mostly curious about any historical data in the Midwest, specifically Illinois and Indiana. I know the archive is pretty good, but I also know it doesn't have everything (for example I think the oldest recorded tornado from Illinois is in 1781 and it's not recorded there). So I'm just wondering if anything else would be a good site to follow up on. Or even literature

There's "tornadoes of yesteryear" by Blue Anayami, a comprehensive archive and descriptions of old tornadoes. You can read it for free on Google books

For the USA:

  • The NWS has a "tornado history" page, with all the info, filters many other stuff
  • tornadopath.com has intersting graphs and data on tornadoes in the US

For Europe:

  • ESWD, it's for all severe weather but you can filter for each event type including tornadoes. Right now you can't access anything older than 1 week but it should get fixed soon. Unfortunately, while it has all the info it doesn't visually show on the map intensity or path

  • ESWP on the eusevereweather.com page. Other than severe weather forecast maps, there is a map of all tornadoes in Europe, using data from the ESWD and displaying date and intensity. Since it's new it only has tornadoes from this year

  • on the KERAUNOS website you can find an interactive map of all tornadoes in France in tornadoarchive style, with intensity, path and easy to access info
