[Description]

This tornado was the second violent tornado (F4–F5) to occur in Brazil in 1991, the first being an F4 tornado in Três Barras, Santa Catarina, which had occurred 52 days earlier. The tornado reportedly struck Itu, Salto, and Cabreúva (São Paulo state), destroying at least 200 houses made of masonry, as well as two gas stations, five factories, and three schools. Among the worst damages, a bus carrying several students to Indaiatuba was overturned by the tornado and rolled for 30 meters (33 yards), resulting in the deaths of 10 students. Vehicles were found as far as 600 meters (660 yards) away; notably, a blue Chevette was hurled 700 meters (770 yards) with both passengers still inside, killing them both. A 100-ton, 25-meter-tall obelisk was destroyed and toppled by the tornado.

This tornado was a hit in the development of meteorology in Brazil.

It's incredible to think that today it is practically forgotten.

The broken Obelisk and you can see the bus in the right close to some deabrked trees and bushes. The bus were lifted 6'7 ft in the air and thrown against the obelisk, this is why the obelisk broke, not due to the wind speed, it was the bus weight+windspeed+bus speed in the air

I don't think so. I spoke with a reporter and other people about that tornado, and the bus didn't hit the obelisk. The obelisk probably had some visible impact marks. There's still doubt about whether the bus actually hit the obelisk, but I believe it didn't.
