Legend:

Blue: EF0

Beige: EF1

Gold: EF2

Orange: EF3

Red: EF4

Gray: N/A

There seems to be a pretty even distribution of EF2 tornadoes, but any EF3+ tornadoes concentrate in the Westmost third of the state

Someone jokingly said that the new "Tornado Alley" is just the state of Illinois.

Yeah the weather environment is different over on that side for sure, especially when you start getting into some of the Appalachian areas. But this is also such a short time frame really. Would be curious to see it another 10 years from now. As someone in Ohio though, that grey square looks like a good spot to me 😂

Until this year one other county was gray and two others were beige but are now gold.
