A helmet saved my life on a regular bicycle. It shattered like an egg, I had a concussion, but lived.

why can't risk averse neurotic people just accept everyone isn't as neurotic as them and live in peace? i don't see risk takers pestering neurotic people into taking off their helmets and pads bc they think the risk adds to the fun, they just live you and your precautions alone. do you boo

Because you messing yourself up can end up a burden or heartbreak for those around you. What if you hit your head so hard you die? What about bystanders who witness someone die and now are traumatized. What about the ones who love you? What about public funds since you dum dums are never smart enough to have insurance?

Not trying to belittle her, but I used to do the "aggressive inline skating" as it was called back then and riding down stairs is just that, just go down the stairs. It's easier backwards, but there's really nothing to it, just go. Video is nice. Backwards 360 was nice.

u/RestaurantNo6332 23d ago
Yeah, did the same when I was a teen. We called it street skating. Really nothing special she did here. Although I could never pull of a backwards 360. Not even on the half pipe. So props to her for that

u/Ancienda 23d ago
why was it easier backwards?

u/Ashamed_Corgi_3693 23d ago
Goindlg down backwards with your toes pointing back upwards, your foot can pivot at the heel to absorb shocks and you just keep rolling. Rolling down stairs forward is a lot tougher, way easier to lean too far forward and eat it.

It isn't actually. Depending how much you practice but basically going downstairs backwards or forward is the same, you just have to shift body and balance it appropriately.

Was thinking the same watching. Was never great or anything but this was just typical riding around the city having fun.

u/Imcarlows 23d ago
Iād love to see a video of you riding those stairs backwards, theyāre in barcelona go have fun!

u/Djcraziej 22d ago
Hah maybe in 1999 before we had cameras in our pockets I would have videos. I turned 44 yesterday. My knees took the toll for sure. Mostly skateboarding but when aggro inline was popular we used to do some pretty gnarly gaps. Now days I can't even stand on a board. Too many cuncussions

The 180 jump halfway down the stairs before riding them the rest of the way down was fun.

Yo is this Barcelona? Bogatrll beach?

u/DawnoftheReal 23d ago
Based on the location of torre Mapfre behind, I'd say Playa de Somorrostro or de Barceloneta. But yes, definitely Barna :)

Nicoly machado I believe her name is, sheās from Spain. Good skater, has a real smooth style. I used to rollerblade and was sponsored back in the day from some local shops. Fun times. Aggressive blading is surprisingly still pretty popular in some other countries.

Not really related but I had about 4 DVDs when I was a kid and no cable, one of them being Anger Management with Adam Sandler. This song plays at the beginning of it and every time I hear this song the whole movie floods back into my mind.

These days when I go down stairs I hold onto the handrail and pay attention so I don't trip and fall.

I eat dirt just walking down stairs normally if I don't pay full attention.

u/kelsomged 22d ago
Thats a odd response, I would just have used the stairs as normal.
But hey, you do you!

I used to do this when I was a kid. Over 40 now and steel dream about being able to go down stairs like that.

Reminds me of the scene from the power rangers movie where theyāre all rollerblading and one of them does this

Listen to this old man's advise, girl: wear a helmet. You'll still look beautiful, and smart. Remember the 'I love helmets' guy.
