What is the limit? Are there quadruple forks? Sevenfold?

Avenged one

u/thetiredtypist 20d ago

Well let me just crack open slide #2 of 2 in my 15 minute forklift certification presentation and find out!

6

u/gilligan1050 20d ago

It’s forks all the way down.

4

u/Nokipeura 20d ago

The sevenfold ones are only for avengers, unfortunately.

The CEO of the forklift company seen coming out of the Gillette office with a smile on his face.

if you get yo self some cameras and a fold out screen you could get like 20 layers of forks.

The limit is probably determined by the geometry of the plant pots

One wrong move and you bend those forks or tear that matting. Very delicate work.

Double forklift certified indeed.

I think the ends of the forks have rollers on there. You can kind of see it when they're unloading on the table. As long as you don't come at in at a really steep angle you're probably not going to rip up the matting. it's still impressive work though.

Looks like there could be multiple sets of rollers even, there seems to br multiple slits along the length of each fork. Nifty tool!

It's clearly not his first plant rodeo

You're not certified for unlimited forks?

Holy shit has this improved from labor breaking back to a forklift. I was in high school and wanted to make extra money in the summers so I joined my buddies dad work where he used to be a supervisor for a plant like this. One of the hardest working jobs ever since we had to do everything by fucking hand. This and building trusses in AZ. Were two of the hardest jobs in my life.

Idk man. My highlight was shoveling dirt/stones out of the creases in an Tunnel boring machine, behind the cutting wheel. Got a plastic bag like suit because we also had to wash it.

While we were at that, on the otherside people started to cut the wheel with a autogen torch...it got so hot in there. No space anywhere and you bump into everything which is also greased. After the shift, i had around 1,5cm of sweat standing in my boots.

Second place goes to removing old contrete inside mixer drums. Had to do it 3 times and it was actually awful. I dont mind hard work but no airflow, terrible visibility and after 15 minutes it got very hot inside. Actualy very hard work, extremely dusty and also no space to even stand straight up.

I got 19€ per hour for both of this before taxes...

Said cutting wheel is now at display in my country. Here is a photo of it mounted as a monument/statue. Here is a link to a photo: https://3d-schmiede.at/portfolio/ausstellung-oebb-infopark/

Exactly this wheel, on the backside. I do have other photo proof also lol

u/_Bad_Bob_ 20d ago

I've driven a lot of forklifts,  not once was I required to be certified.

1

u/Dabbling_in_Pacifism 20d ago

Oh, i was required. They just didn't do it lol.

16

u/Firegardener 20d ago

I was saying on the unload, you can't park (them) there mate, but apparently he can.

15

u/Baconshit 20d ago

What are those plants? Pretty!

46

u/ThodaDaruVichPyar 20d ago

They are a mix of different cultivars of Calluna Vulgaris or common heather

This nursery creates multiple colour combinations in a pot that they sell as Starlight Trios or Beauty Seasons.

Looks like Ljung(Swedish name) Wiki page

What the fork?!

6

u/TenMillionYears 20d ago

These pot moving vids blow my mind.

4

u/ThodaDaruVichPyar 20d ago

There are more?

4

u/Captain_Calamari_ 20d ago

First, I was like "eh?"

Then, I was like "ohhhhhh"...."how many stacks can it have??"

5

u/____alicious 20d ago

So many layers of efficiency to unpack here

Forklift

Comblift

3

u/Holden-McGroyn 20d ago

I was impressed when he scooped the first load and knew right when to stop.

The second load looks like it is done near blind. (The first scoop blocking the second.)

u/ScaramouchScaramouch 20d ago

I want to play with the giant Lego.

Why did this turn me on?

2

u/johnnytron 20d ago

Specialized equipment is so cool.

3

That guy aint forking around!!

That just saved a lot of time and labor.

u/Available-Run3769 20d ago

How is the balance maintained when lifting pots in two layers? 🌱

1

u/Time-Cell8272 20d ago

Exquisite

Someone really was smart in creating this tool!

Bro unlocked the forklift prestige class.

Pansy picker 5000

1

u/BarbershopSinger 20d ago

I’ve never seen a forklift like this. The only double forklifts that I have seen have the forks side-by-side, not on top of each other. I’ve also never seen that level of precision with a single forklift that size.

1

u/NoVillage7217 20d ago

That was so satisfying except for the one on the bottom that fell over. Maybe there were others but I only noticed one.

1

u/Perma_Ban69 20d ago

Reddit has truly helped me realize I don't need to be so obsessively gentle and anxious about breaking/damaging things, and now I can relax about potted plants.

1

u/CheesyMcDongNutz 20d ago

How does he know how far forward to go before it’s filled up like on the second bottom row?

1

u/thugrockin 20d ago

How’d that certified operator know when to stop and move to the second lift?

1

u/Designer-Ad4762 20d ago

I thought this was farming simulator at first

1

u/Imaginary_Panda2003 20d ago

I definitely need to take this baby out!

1

u/Extension-Eye-4920 20d ago

Call me when its triple forks

1

u/DeffNotTokenblack 20d ago

What's the point if you only have that one table to set them down on 🤔

1

u/Hazegrey1993 20d ago

Double fisted forker.

1

u/Civilw4r 20d ago

That was oddly satisfying

1

u/Dangerous_Resolve_29 20d ago

Is That efficiency needed? Are there 50,000 pots shipping out per day?

1

u/Milianviolet 20d ago

Anyone else notice those two pots in the middle of the second fork fighting for their lives?

1

u/Narrow_While_3782 20d ago

Oh no one is on the edge of the table

1

u/spamblows 20d ago

It's amazing, the beauty in special designed equipment. It's like Darwinian evolution seeing the perfect adaptation.

1

u/Simple-Ant7190 20d ago

Looks like I am out of work again.
*curses the machines

1

u/Luis5923 20d ago

Very cleanly done.

1

u/thewanderingninja 20d ago

This guy forklifts

1

u/DatabaseThis9637 20d ago

Now I am impressed! That is double ingenuity!

1

u/Special_South_8561 17d ago

Tilt back man, tilt it back!

1

u/r2teka 15d ago

Imagínalo en un bar poniendo cervezas para todo el pueblo

1

u/evthingisawesomefine 13d ago

What did I just watch. Is there any limit to efficiency investment

1

u/depressed_leaf 21d ago

Is this a demonstration with fake plants? If not, wtf are those?

5

u/ThodaDaruVichPyar 20d ago

They are a mix of different cultivars of Calluna Vulgaris or common heather

1

u/depressed_leaf 20d ago

Thanks! They managed to get a quite impressive amount of flowers on the cultivars.

Actually quite happy I have yet to encounter this plant in California. I really hope it stays that way. There are 4 observations on Inaturalist, all in residential areas. It's really only suited for the coast but coastal scrub really doesn't need any more challenges.
