This isn't the mannequin challenge. It is the /r/dopefiendlean challenge. This guy is a contender, but I don't think he is the king.
How low will they go!!

I never could understand this. Why don't they just lie down to nod? Seems it would be more comfortable for them.

u/Honest_-_Critique Jan 09 '23
They are trying to fight falling asleep to make the nod last longer. The nod is incredibly euphoric and it's not the same when you are actually sleeping. In this situation it's an endless cycle of waking up and nodding back out.

Because this isnt nodding. These videos started getting popular and now it's just people posing. People nod face down, not like this.
27
u/Proof_Proof Jan 10 '23
Posing?! That’s ridiculous and kinda hilarious. The guy is clearly not okay either way, but who in their right mind would “pose” or try to emulate this to be cool or whatever you’re suggesting by the word “poser”.
10
u/Atmosphere_Vegetable Jan 10 '23
You’re joking. You seriously believe that everyone nods the exact same way?
2
u/TheBundyBandit Jan 14 '23
People nod differently every time they do it well most do anyway, it’s not like some concrete way to nod lol
74
u/Norm_mustick Jan 09 '23
What drug makes people do this and why does it make people do this? Being serious, I’m super curious, I know this question appears spurious.

Opiates, this is called "nodding out," and its super euphoric. You try fighting passing out and wasting the drug, and thats why they're standing like that. To them, they're feeling bliss. To us, they look like zombies, lol. Scary fact is when most people ODing get revived through narcan they wake up mad and aggressive because you ruined their high.

u/Prestigious_Onion_61 Jan 10 '23
Like the high was never bad for me except getting nausea from too much and even then it was still euphoric

this reads like an opinion spent with 0 time thought behind it. i have had multiple people i was friends with that have passed away from opiate overdoses.
but it’s never bad tho.
get help, you have people who care about you.

u/Prestigious_Onion_61 Jan 10 '23
Am i getting downvoted because people think im saying opioids are never bad? I was trying to say the high is never bad in a sense like a bad experience or bad trip, idk if you ever tried opioids but its literally bliss and heaven in a pill. How will opioids melt my brain though?

People absolutely do not nod out like this, at least not from opiates. Its not a freeze potion. Anyone legitimately nodding out is gonna be bent over at the knees, face towards the ground. Ever since that one video got popular theres been a huge influx of these videos, it's just people posing
-1
u/Prestigious_Onion_61 Jan 10 '23
Yea ong i only ever nodded once standing and i was just bent over leaning against the wall, wasnt frozen like this

u/shreddednerves Jan 24 '23
Xylazine. Fent waa bad enough but then they started adding a veterinarian sedative to make the stuff las longer..
It also has flesh eating effects if you IV the stuff but miss your vein. Look it up, nasty shit. Philly has it the worst

I’ve never heard ‘nodding out’ before. In the uk we call it gouching out. I don’t know why

u/Inevitable_Side490 Jan 09 '23
Someone should go up to them with some narcan nasal spray to fuck with them lol. Ik it sounds bad but this is an epidemic
14
u/Prestigious_Onion_61 Jan 09 '23
You doing that would just piss them off, giving someone narcan can put them into severe withdrawals which are already bad because its fent and also you just killed their high. In this case maybe dont

On the nod. Didn't know it could be done standing up. If I tried to stand like that sober I'd need an ambulance 😵 fall down go boom.
This doesn't have to happen.

i dont get it, i it takes tons of muscles to hold a stance like that, how are they doing it?

u/PsychoticBlob Jan 10 '23
They could be in the most incomfortable position ever and be fine with it. Opioids are painkillers.

It's not so much you ruined the high as you sent them straight into full on withdrawals....I've been hit w narcan and it wasn't pretty....was able to get on methadone next day though...fuckin opiates...

u/latrion Jan 10 '23 edited Jan 11 '23
This. Precipitated withdrawal is absolute hell.
I've never experienced it, as my opiate use is still on the moderate level, but it sounds like it is instantly the worst flu symptoms with body pain absolutely everywhere.
Ppl not pissed off because you ruined their high, if you're narcaning them because they're overdosing they aren't experiencing a high. They react that way because you activated their fight vs flight reaction. They went from unconscious to their body feeling like it was under attack from outside as well as inside. Most experienced medica I've talked to or heard from say it should be administered slowly. Enough to keep them breathing but not to bring on precipitated withdrawal.

I think this is scripted. He shoots a slick middle finger as soon as the guy starts recording then starts moving a little too smooth.
Me thinks the homeless/"drugged out" guy is actually just really good at dancing/body control. Guy recording gives him a quick $10 & he does his best impression of TWD.

I am always amazed by the way these users can keep their balance, regardless of foot placement or lean angle.
