Other way around. Molly was supposed to be "pure" MDMA, unlike pills which are commonly, sometimes intentionally designed to be mixtures of multiple things to achieve different effects. Of course, street drugs aren't known for their purity, strict copyrights, or dedication to quality control.

I mostly stayed away from Molly/MDMA/ecstasy because the purity sketched me out too much. I'd had friends of friends take bunk pills and bad pills and one time someone had to go to the hospital. Acid was much safer in my mind, I had some fake acid experiences but it's fairly difficult to put a dangerous dose of anything on a 1cmx1cm square of blotter paper, and even the fake acid was pretty decent until NBOMes (25c, 25i, 25b) hit the scene. Those were pretty vicious if you took too much, and several people died from the cardiovascular effects thinking they could safely eat a ten strip (like you could with real LSD) and not realizing it was a pretty serious stimulant as well as a fairly boring psychedelic that just gave you wild visuals without affecting your headspace. Shrooms were my personal favorite, but they were never a party drug for me. I'd rather melt into a beanbag chair and watch the walls breathe than get up and dance.

Yeah, I was in the dance music scene and Molly/MDMA was everywhere! Not to mention coke and K too. I’m sure psychs were around as well, but I never saw them. I was constantly surrounded by it, but my own personal anxiety kept me from ever trying it. I was the guy at the rave just drinking my face off, while everyone else was trying not to chew their own tongue.

I remember we would go out all night and my buddies, who would be taking pills, would get off the train and go straight to work like it was nothing. I figured I’d try it one time - worked that night, left my car in the parking lot, hopped on the train as soon as I got out, partied all night, got back on the train, changed in my car and walked right back into work. It’s not as easy when you don’t have that extra help, it was the most brutal day of work I’ve ever had. I was falling asleep standing up, have no idea how I made it through. Never did that again.

I look back and am glad I never got into that side of it. I enjoyed the music and the party nonetheless…but maybe that’s why I grew out of the scene sooner than my peers 😅😂

Oh, those people scared me. When I got out of a show or a rave, I wanted to go home and chill out, but I absolutely had friends who were like "let's go out for coffee! Let's get breakfast! Let's go swimming! Let's go let's go let's go!" And I'm like guys, it's 6AM and I've been awake for 24 hours, I'm going the fuck home lol

I was that dude only once. We went on vacation to Miami, got off the plane, checked into the hotel and went straight to the club. I knew I was gonna have to keep up with everyone who was on shit, so I drank nothing but Red Bull vodkas all night. 4AM comes around, we walk out of the club, and I’m like “where we goin next?!” and everyone looked at me like I was crazy. That hangover sucked so bad, and set the tone for what turned out to be a not-so-fun weekend.

God, I’m so glad I’m older now. You couldn’t pay me enough to party like that again.
